For someone that can't do wrestling (IE, you graduated from highschool), what is the best grappling oriented discipline a person can learn? Judo and Jujuitsu? Is that enough? Is wrestling necessary? What makes wrestling superior?
Wrestling is good because they practice grappling without a gi. There are many parts of Judo that can be added to mma, but right now its not happening to much. When bjj guys used to pull guard on me which is what they always did I would just bear hug them and start working my body around clock wise or counter clock wise, worked amazing and I could damage hips that way. I saw Judo players make guys like Carlos Newton look like a white belt in pure submison grappling.
blocking kicks is one thing. but the pain you suffer in ur shins is immense. a kick is very powerful, and a knee can be worse. judo and muay thai would be a better combo imo
