    I’ve seen nothing of Brant.

I’m struggling to see an old quitting light heavy that’s dropping down a weight class winning

I think Braehmer moved to lightheavy only because supermiddle was packed with talent 10 years ago. Now it's the other way around so he's moving back. I don't think he will have too much problem with the weight. But I don't rate him as highly as some people do. His opposition has been only marginally better than Brant's in the last few years.

Yildirim is a top 10 @ 168 by any measure, the bloke convincingly dealt to Johnson, Hyppolite, Pryor Jr and Periban.

Periban got robbed against Bika, had a draw against Jack and bounced JLeon Love all over the ring.
Yildirim beat him easily, just because young Christopher beat him easily it doesn't make him a bum.

Looks like Braehmers good-bye fight honestly. I saw an interview where he said he will show up without a head coach. "I am my own coach". Mkaaay.

The more I think about this fight the less chance I give Braemher
39 years of age and dropping weight is a terrible combination.

Sure he's the technically superior fighter but he's too past it to beat a B level Brant.

Really doesn't matter who wins tbf, Smith will bomb the winner out no bother

I'll be honest, I haven't seen that fight, but Peribán is a very inconsistent commodity. He is the poster boy for running hot & cold. On a good night yes he can make an elite work their ass off, but he also isn't even close to a guaranteed world beater. Even before his zero was snatched by old irrelevant dirty ass Bika, he already had lost the "hot prospect" luster when he only barely squeaked by Francisco goddamn Sierra.

As for the rest of Yildrim's scalps, none of them add up to entry into a top 15 @ super middle, let alone 10. You could double that quantity of the same caliber scalps, and they don't punch your ticket. All of those are okay, but not overly special. Johnson is a fossil. Like, you could probably carve off his gluts and convert them into fuel to supply a small third-world nation for a year. Hyppolite is Canadian level (which sounds a lot more like a harsh insult than I mean it to )

Yildrim isn't a bum, no, but if we're using a scale that is calibrated to call Rob Brant a bum, then yes, under that rubric Yildrim is very much a bum as well.

    I heard he's a full-time trainer. Convenient.

Brant winning this fight will be annoying drawing Ward comparisons and bs, ffs this clown should be the favourite to beat the old boy. Nothing too special winning this fight tbh, beat Smith and then we can talk.

BS this is the same bloke that got a gift against Louis Rose!!!

How can you say with a straight face Yilidirim doesn't have the far superior resume

Yeah that usually doesn't bode well if you aren't the sort that was essentially self-coached your entire career, like Shumenov for example.

I would love to see Jürgen Brähmer vs. Zsolt Erdei in a one-off, "Just For Pride" 10-rounder (winner gets to ride off into the sunset on a high note and give his fan base the upper hand in hypothetical prime for prime arguments), since they had a bit of a score to settle from way back in the late aughts.

So what? Do you even know a thing about Rose, except that Khytrov blitzed him? Khytrov happens to be pretty good, in case you didn't get the memo (swimming in waters that are well deeper than surface-dwelling little fishies like Brant and Yildrim).

Brant also has the better amateur credentials than Yildrim (fought a higher proportion of domestic opposition, but it was top national guys and he racked up lots of name wins. Yildrim meanwhile lost pretty quickly in just about every tourney he entered) and on the eye test I'm pretty sure I'd pick Brant to UD him.

Shumenov went like that for the bulk of his career, though. (as did Pirog, and some others with mixed success, like Grzegorz Proksa)

Deciding to go it alone near the end of your run is generally a bad idea. Your muscle-memory is drilled to listen for that external voice of authority in your corner. Just having your brother-in-law or whoever standing there with a towel mopping your brow isn't going to cut it.

US amateur system isn't top shelf these days but tbf Brant has a style suited to the pitter patter amateur system.
When he fought in the WSB he was poor, he got dominated by the naturally bigger and stronger, "less skilled" guys.
Yildirim would do the same to Brant, Yildirim would outmuscle him and use his size to control him.

Brant isn't Eubank Jr, far from it.

On that we agree, but I don't think you need to be Eubank Jr. to do what he did to Yildrim. :nusenuse:
