Have you guys been following this guy? I have been to a couple of his fights in So Cal earlier in his career and he has been progressing very nicely. He has a great trainer who I believe will one day be trainer of the year (Stephen "Breadman" Edwards) and probably in the same year that Julian wins fighter of the year. He is with Al Haymon and Golden Boy. He is 18-0-1 with 11 KO's. I predict that he will be a world champ by this time next year and will unify the titles in the next few years and eventually move up to 160 and win a title there. He has Hall of Fame level talent. Very intelligent fighter with good speed, good power, very good footwork, very accurate, solid chin and from what I hear a very disciplined trainer in the gym. The sky's the limit for this kid. I've been following J-Rock. This kid is the truth, as far as I can tell. Breadman (whose mailbag on Btalk I really enjoy reading) is doing a great job with him. They will be running that division in a couple of years, I think.
Looks to be the goods. Coming along very nicely. Boxing ability, multi speed punches, good jab, hand speed, timing, distance, defense still needs a little work, but is already pretty good. My only question is how his power will be at the top level. It looks decent so far, but not devastating.
I don't think he will be ready for Lara by the end of the year. Trout, Kirkland, Canelo ...bring em on!
