Quite underrated in my opinion.. When it comes to straight up one punch punching power i do not think he should be outside the top 5 even.. Seems like the Ring favored the older dudes when they made this list.. seeing as how the top 10 reads: Joe Louis Sam Langford Jimmy Wilde Archie Moore Sandy Saddler Stanley Ketchel Jack Dempsey Bob Fitzsimmons George Foreman Earnie Shavers
I think they base it more on the best overall puncher, rather than simply the hardest puncher. Even then, they rank guys like Foreman and Shavers quite high if that's the case(as well as quite a few others). So I'd have to agree with you, the order is off, but most of these lists are.
Kinda like the child's game "pick up Stix". Choose your top 25 punchers, throw their names in the air.....then pick up them up and make your list. Then do it again. The first list is probably just as "right" as the second list.
Ted Spoon is sure you could give a decent argument for Jackson, but do consider the weight of the men guys like Langford, Fitzsimmons and Ketchel fought - that is what true Pound-for-pound power is about - toppling men naturally larger than yourself.
pound 4 pound means better .... regardless of wieght floyd is the best fighter regardless of his 5'8 147 pound frame. can he beat valuev or wlad prolly not.
Its a great read. I bought it. The list is done on a pound for pound sense, but being famous seems to help quite a bit.
If "The Big Show" hurls PBF out of the building and into Steffi McMahon waiting arms, is he now pound 4 pound Numero Uno?
