I say he is a great. he possessed arguably the hardest punching power in history and beat some very good (arguably great) fighters in Terry Norris and Herol Graham.

The ko of graham was the stuff of greatness. to be able to launch such a powerful, accurate punch while nearly blind is incredible

He had a good chance against anyone in history

he was a great power puncher but not a great fighter.a very good one though.

Anyone notice how many ferocious all-time pound-for-pound punchers there were at light-middle and middle in the late 80s to early 90s ?
Hearns, Mugabi in the mid-80s then Benn, McClellan a few years later, and Julian Jackson was probably the hardest hitter of them all.

    Terry norris

Herol graham, got to laugh at the brit commentator, though we all felt the same in the uk when we watched it at the time.

And sadly his loss to Gerald McClellan which is hardly a disgrace, being a the G-MAN was himself awesome.

There is no more than 50 great fighters IMO: and Julian is no where near any of this lot:

No shame in losing to McClellan... Jackson had been fighting for 11 years at that point and still gave Gerald absolute hell before he got butted and slowed down.

I am just naming 50 fighters more deserving of greatness IMO than Jackson. Foster and Olivares can also be added to that list, as can many, many others.

I read your post to mean there are only 50 great fighters ,thats why I queried it,its a pretty good list as it goes ,I agree all of those you mentioned are worthier than Jackson a great puncher ,but only a very good fighter, imo.

I would say personally there are less than 50 great fighters. The word 'Great' is very special and should not IMO be over used, thus IMO, you should limit the amount of Great fighters.

Well I havent really analyzed it ,but I would agree the word great is vastly overused ,and it has become devalued because of it,you have only to look at some of the names in the HOF,,the whole thing has become a popularity contest, crowd pleasers like Ward and Gatti will probably get in eventually, warriors both of them ,but great fighters no.

when i saw julian jackson, he was flat footed and very very one dimensional.... but like bob foster, every moment of every round and evey situation was set up so he could get the most levarage, tourqe and the cleanest shot that would end the fight.

i saw his achievements relying soley upon his punching power.... which was arguably the greatest of all time p4p

I again think people look to deep at some of the boxers on here,he had a huge KO punch on him and was damn entertaining to watch,to me that makes him a great fighter TO WATCH,if not for what he won, think some are being unfair on him a wee bit.
