Jackson didn't have the ability or hand speed to catch up to Hearns, certainly not the peak Hearns that fought Cuevas and Duran. He was simply too technically superior for Jackson to deal with if he boxed the way hes suppose to and utilize his jab to keep him at bay. I like Hearns by late stoppage.

I'd go with Hearns, because of how hard both fighters hit and their suspect chins it can also be a case of whoever lands the first big set of punches can win it.

I think Hearns is the better fighter, but this match would be a coin flip for me because Jackson's got as big an equalizer as one could ask for in that brain scrambling one punch power. Then again, Hearns hits like a wrecking ball, too. Would've been a good matchup to see.

Hearns has better skills, speed, chin etc

    Jackson has power

I would back Hearns to keep Jackson at bay for a few rounds, before JJ becomes desperate and vulnerable to being taken out.

Basically - Herol Graham laid the blueprint to beating Jackson (30-25 up on points after 3) but walked onto a mountainous right hand.

Hearns was too much of a beast. KO in five.

Hearns would have beat Jackson up.

Hearns would stop him 9/10 times.

Hearns was way too quick for jackson but he'd have to keep that left up or its the 1st barkley fight over again.

I don't think it would be late. Hearns is the quicker fighter, taller, rangier and has the punches to blow Jackson out very quickly indeed (see Hearns v Cuevas/Duran, Jackson v McCallum/McClellan). However, what makes this one interesting is that Jackson could also banjo him very early ala Terry Norris or Cardamone and could also definitely pull it out with a single shot even if he was taking a pasting (ref: Jackson v Herol Graham or Hearns v Barkley I).

I think Hearns would win 7/8 out of ten simply due to his speed, height, reach and all better mobility. The others, Jackson probably catches him and banjos him. I don't think many of them would go past the sixth round and can't see this one ever going to points.

Don't forget Bomber was a southpaw and about as easy to catch as an eel with your bare hands. Hearns was technically good but didn't quite have the wriggle that the Bomber did (not that it ultimately did him much good). He does, however, have MUCH more firepower!!!
