You always have to go with Julian with his power. Barkley could punch hard also, so if he hit Julian you never know. Barkley was not a great fighter, he just had a great win in his career against Hearns. it would take another big punch. it is about odds. 70/30 in favor of Jackson landing first.
I don't think Julian is knocking Iran out actually, i think he might just be too durable even for Jackson's power, i think he would outlast Julian's early aggressiveness and power, and his busy workrate takes a convincing decision
Interesting, because Jackson has a higher chance of being hurt, but also has the better skillset. Barkley seems too durable to get stopped. Those Hearns shots were killing him, but he kept firing. Probably a late stoppage for Barkley.
No doubt barkley was tough, but he was also hurt throughout his career and even stopped by lesser punchers than Jackson.Even a 5\10 puncher like Kalambay had him rocked with single shots, through accuracy and skillful punch-picking. A bad matchup for the Blade imo. He'll try and trade punches at mid-long range and get his heavy jab going, which will doom him.Prime Barkley wasn't a slugger first and foremost, but a standup boxer-puncher with bad discipline.By the time he realises he needs to deny the quicker handed Jackson punching distance it'll probably be too late, and if he does get wild he's the more likely of the two to go quickly if he gets caught with something he doesn't see coming.
agreed. i also think jackson's chin gets undersold quite a bit. it seems as though most of the h2h matches end with a jackson ko unless he's caught first. it's not like a stiff fart knocked the guy out. in his prime the only guy to take him out was mccalluum, who was a damn fine hitter himself. mcclellan was a ****ing beast but jackson was near blind by that point.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPmgV51awgs"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPmgV51awgs[/ame] iran can get stopped hard. different iran than the one we know of but he can get tagged and rocked due to his swiss cheese defence. but i think he is a guy i would bet on to maul and roll through JJ's punches. he could get dropped but i trust him to get up and keep flowing. he could swamp jacksons workrate which was pretty low for the smaller fighter. im not underselling jacksons chin as NC says. he was stopped by VERY good punchers. taylor/mccallum/mcclelan stopped him but took some punishment before it happend i think the pressure just burst the pipes. this is a MASSIVE middleweight who has chin punch and not scared to trade. has great stamina against these sorts of fights. go to go with a iran barkley stoppage or possible ud.
Barkley comes forward too much and leaves himself too open for my liking to pick him against a major puncher. He can have some success fighting smart like he did at times in the Duran fight, pumping the jab and moving, but I think it's too likely that he tries to take it to the trenches. When that happens Jackson has a very good chance to catch Barkley big with something that he doesn't see coming, or hurting Iran to the body. (Barkley looked vulnerable in the body at times, and Jackson's body work hurt when he bothered going downstairs. For example, check out the mauling he put on Buster Drayton's rib cage.) Other than he was a devastating puncher I simply never watched too much Jackson ... Barkley I know .. a warrior with a huge heart and brutal power , Iran was most vulnerable early as he was not a fast starter and could be hurt by a hard punching, fast starter ( see Benn) ... I'm not sure if Jackson started fast like that ... in a war of attrition I like the bigger Barkley ...
What a shootout this would be. I think Jacksons style would suit Barkley. But the difference for me is Jackson can take Barkley's punch better than Barkley can take his. I think Barkley would be stopped in the mid rounds in a back n forth wild exciting shootout.
Barkley is tailor made for Jackson. Both will land their share of blows, but Iran will get the worst of it.
