Now can the version of Whitaker that defeated Vazquez for his WBC 154 lb crown avoid Jackson's big shots and win a decision or will he get caught and KO'ed?
The 154lbs Whitaker would probably get hit cleanly by Jackson on several occasions, and I can't see a natural Lightweight taking that kind of power well.
I remember whitaker once said that he didnt want to stay at 154 cuz Vazquez hit too hard, well julian jackson hits alot harder, but who knows , whitaker could outbox him, but unlikely.
Hard to tell. Whitaker can give him trouble for as long as he can stay in there, but the question is how long would that be? Even punches that don't land fully solidly are bound to hurt Whitaker.
He took trinidad power pretty well when shot, admttedly trinidad doesn't hit as hard as jackson but it shows that whitaker could take shots of a naturaly bigger massive puncher. I do favour jackson to win however
Hmm Whitaker outboxes him for as long as he's not knocked out, if he lasts the 12 he wins, otherwise...
Whitaker by decision is the smart pick Im guessing but its possible Jackson could be too big, possible more than probable tho.
If Sweet Pea had taken the fight, it would be because he fancied it. So if it did happen I think Whitaker possibly gets a later rounds retirement win, probably due to eye damage, but at least a convincing decision. But the time frame was slightly out, so it was not to be.
McCallum stated that Jackson had quicker handspeed than anybody he evder faced, at 154 Whitaker`s hand speed was not quicker than Jackson`s and he didn`t look anywhere near as good as McCallum looked at 154, I feel Jackson would have blown him away the same way he blew Norris away.
