Would Jackson take out Duran like Hearns did, or would Roberto bide his time and just bust Jackson up and stop him late?

    Duran by TKO in 10.

i think the shot that knocked out duran from hearns was not just extremely powerful but very sneaky and well placed. i am not so sure that jackson could pick a spot as good as hearns. i think duran would win this by stoppage with inside work.

After outboxing Julian for a good portion of the fight, I envision a Hearns-like end for Duran.

Jackson had more power than HEarns but he wasn´t as fast, as acurate abd didn´t have the same ability to time his punches. He could take out Duran with a well placed shot. I don´t think it will happen so. I envision a fight in which Duran´s superior defense and boxing brain will prevail. Duran TKO9 Jackson.

It is hard to see anyone knock out Duran like Hearns did. Hearns was quick and he hit Duran with numerous right hands and lefts. I think Duran stops Julian in about 8. Not a good fight for Julian. Not many guys would hit Duran as easily and fast as Hearns did, and as hard.

No it wasn't sneaky. Hearns was already savagely beating Duran, lifting him off the floor with a body shot and knocking him down once already. The early KO was inevitable

Hearns beat Duran to a pulp no doubt, but Jackson was more of a Davey Moore than a Thomas Hearns. See the way McCallum was making him miss and making him pay in close, disposing of him in just 2 rounds though it was potentially an early stoppage as Jackson usually took some beatings before getting an opportunity to land the big punch. Duran isn't the size of McCallum, but he would go into the fight with a similar approach. If Jackson lands it could be curtains even for a man as durable as Roberto Duran, but his defense and survival skills could see him last the dangerous early rounds and start to pick Jackson apart. It's a tough one to call.

Duran wins 4 out of 5.

Jackson doesn't have the skill required to land the shot flush. Hearns did but he hits Duran with about 10-20 brutal shots in those 2 rounds. Jackson can't do that.

Duran was old and out of shape for most of his time above 147 but he could still beat world class fighters as long as he didn't have to chase them.

Jackson might drop him once but eventually Duran outworks him, break him down, and probably finishes him in the late rounds. Jackson might go the distance but I think Duran would win about 8 rounds.

Generally duran inside. Something like a slightly longer and more dangerous cuevas fight, with a touch of the moore counter punching beatdown.

IMO, Duran gets dropped twice or thrice in the first round, if three KD rule is not in effect, and Duran starts schooling him in the second through 5 or 6th round, and then beating him down hard. Final round KO when Duran is ahead and closes the show.

cmon hookie, you are an old school poster, don´t be nostalgic... duran was a natural lw, and he got destroyed by a fast starter puncher like hearns(and it was not a lucky punch, he was landing once and again and duran was finished..), and jackson did hit even harder than hearns, there is no way that duran would last the distance here, he would be brave but he would get destroyed, soon of later he would trade with julian. of course that pfp duran is much better, but i don´t think that you would pick ray robinson over bob foster ?or yes?

I'm sorry, I love Duran, and quality wise, he was leagues above Jackson. However, at 154, I firmly believe Jackson would have knocked him senseless at some point.
