Julian Jackson .Vs. Roberto Duran

Foster was not a very skilled fighter.

 

I'm a Toney diehard, so I'm not going to start waxing lyrical about how Foster would stop him - I can't even remember saying that anyway. I'm not saying I didn't say it, because right now I think Foster would have every chance of KO'ing anyone over 15 at 175, but anyway it's not a debate I want to have. All I'll end by saying is: KO4 Dick Tiger.

 

I don't think anyone on this thread has said anything to the contrary thus far. I don't think he was very skilled either. He was a positively evil puncher though.

 

I'd go for Duran here as well at junior middleweight. At that time he would of had too much of everything for Jackson.

 

Do you rate him above Julian Jackson?

 

This would be a classic fight. I would give Jackson the edge just because he was that much bigger and still a decent fighter, certainly better than Barkley not to mention a much bigger puncher.

Also it depends what version of Duran shows up. Leonard I/Barkley/Moore, or the one that lost to Kirkland Laing? The fat lazy version of Duran would get KTFO in 3 rounds by Jackson.

 

I did a while back. Now I think I'd go for Jackson. But I think they are history's non-heavyweight top two for sure, even better than Hearns.

Toney was a hack at 175.Even worse than Nunn as a supermiddle.

 

Jackson was maybe the biggest puncher I have ever seen, that and he is vastly underrated. But Duran is the best fighter I have ever seen, period. Jackson does not have the a huge physical advantage over Duran, though he can hit harder. Duran was a surprisingly effective defensive fighter, with a great chin (I consider the Hearns fight an anomaly). All being considered I think Duran slowly muggs Jackson and TKOs him in 10.

 

What weight are we talking here?

 

Hence 'If Toney is at his best at 175, a big if' - I'm talking a return to his 168 form, although he wasnt too bad against Griffin
