Julian Jackson vs Tito at 154.

i got Tito on this one....Jackson was a bigger puncher but his skills weren't on par with Tito....i say Tito gets off the canvas early then thumps Jackson in 8....

 

Tito has the better chin, and beat the better fighters. Jackson would always have the punchers chance untill he gets KOed.

the fight could also go like the Norris fight. That was all Norris, untill.......POP!

 

I dont know about that...Jackson had a decent skill level it just gets overlooked because of who he is.

He had a good jab, just look at how he came back at a prime Gman in the 2nd and 3rd of their first fight..He was jabbing nicely and countering well...He often displayed this in other fights aswell.

Was also an underrated body puncher.

He wasnt exactly a technical master but to say Tito was miles better in skills department is just wrong.

 

I think Jackson was the more skilled of the two technically at 154. Don't know where people are getting off saying otherwise either. Jackson did everything by the book.

 

Agreed , fans keep over hyping that Julian jackson had a weak chin but over look the fact that he was only stopped twice in his prime buy two of the hardest hitter at 154 and 160. Tito did not have one punch KO power , Jackson had freakish one punch KO power .. Jackson by ko.

 

jackson had awesome power but after 3 rounds he wasnt as strong as he started and if tito would start off with his job the fight woulf be over after 6 in tito's favor

jackson looked for the one punch ko, but tito methodically broke them down. i think jackson drops tito in the early rounds like david reid did, but tito starts taking over by the middle rounds matching jackson punch per punch because not many could take tito's punches either. i think 154 was tito's best weight and ko's norris as well. only hearns or winky wright beat tito at 154

 

Jackson looked to break his opponents down in every bit the same way as Tito did, he just didn't need to as often because of his greater power. He'd economize between the head and body during his assaults better than Tito, and was a more fundamentally sound boxer as well IMO. How much of Jackson have you guys actually taken the time out to watch? It seems like everyone has a pretty vague perception of him as just a flat put puncher with no skills.

As for Tito, I'd take McCallum, Hearns, Jackson, Benitez, Wright, Leonard, Benvenuti, Curry, Duran, and possibly a De La Hoya or Mugabi to beat him at 154. 147 was his best weight.

 

I tend to agree with most of your posts but I will respectfully disagree on this one. I for one think its debatable if Tito was better at 147 than 154. Don't get me wrong, he was an absolute BEAST at welter but I think he also looked really good at 154. He was more comfortable at that weight. From past generations , guys like Duran, Hearns , etc. could have obviously beaten him but I don't know if DLH would at 154, I think DLH's best chance was at 147. I see few guys from the 90's and 2000's (when Tito was fighting) who could have beat him at 154.
