Maybe not, but Benitez defeated Duran SOUNDLY at 154 and starched Maurice Hope at that weight..he would be too much for Jackson.

That would've been the fate for the fat old LW Duran had he faced El Torito.:lol:

I liked Tony Ayala's exciting fighting style, but we really do not know how he would have fared against top notch guys who won titles at this weight like Duran or Benitez. For sure he would not have stopped either of them early, so he would have had to go past the mid rounds and they would have known what to do and that is why I think they would have beaten him. I think the thing about Tony is quality of opposition. He never really proved much against guys of this caliber. Had he been as awesome against Benitez and Duran and Hearns as he was against his opponents at the time, then he would have been an all time great. But no fighter ever dominated all of these guys. The only guy to beat them all is Leonard. and we know how great he was. But I do think Tony had potential, but we just do not know how much. Hard to say.

I think Benitez would outbox Jackson to win a decision but Jackson would remain dangerous as always.
