Anybody else see it? He talked a lot bout being saved by God/Jesus, but even if you're not religious, it was a very powerful speech - one of the best I've ever seen a fighter give at the HOF. He revealed that he once attempted suicide, something I'm sure none of us knew. He also gave an incredibly kind and loving shout out to his wife. Truly one of the good guys in boxing history, on top of being the most devastating puncher.
His most memorable quote from the speech was, "They say behind every great man is a great woman. But I say, BESIDE every great man is a great woman. She came from my rib, not my backside."
I didn't hear his HOF speech. But he always seemed to be a class act well before his induction, in fact, his entire career.
Awsome...great to hear from athletes giving thanks and speaking about accepting the Lord into there lives. All respect due. I like him even more now
I was at the speech. I really enjoyed it, as well. Jackson is a very kind and well spoken man. He was about as friendly a guy as you could ever meet. Hard to imagine he could ever harm another human being. Such a contrast to what his fists were capable of doing in the ring.
