Looking at his resume on boxrec it don't look that impressive to me. He won his 3 world titles when they were vacant (not saying they werent world quality operators but its always better to beat a bona fida champ whos had a few defences and proved himself). I must admit i dont know much about the 80s light middle era and 90's middle era, but was there anyone better he could have fought or did he take on all challengers?
yeah norris was a great investment, he also gave mcCallum trouble and sparked graham. you can shoot down anybody's resume and julians is pretty easy to do so. but he fought some low ranked comp.
oh yeah mcClellan, the first fight is some scary stuff, jackson just drops everything on the g-man, good performance by both. if anybody has seen the quincy taylor fight you'll see how washed up julian has become. anyone think julian got to the top of his league too late. and fought tough even later.
Cant find it on the net, does anyone know how many past present or former world champs Jackson fought? usually a good indicator of level of compettition.
could very well be yeah. Timing was a factor, plus like to many power punchers (ie: Shavers) he didn't learn enough basics. His chin wasn't great but the fact was he could be outboxed and relied on that wonderful, wonderful right to bail him out. If I could give him anything, it'd be better movement/positioning
