Who has a significant win in boxing besides Canelo? Loma and Crawford sure as hell don't. J-Rock is a significant win for him? Crawford is the career-defining fight for him.
I heard he was having some promotional issue or something. He really does need a push. He'd beat the **** out of the Shawn Porter that just fought Ugas.
Lomachenko 's win over Russell Jr. is top level. Crawford on the other hand, doesn't have a significant win. As far as who else has significant wins. Estrada whooped Wangek. Ruiz whooped Joshua. Williams beat Hurd. Hurd beat Lara. There are a few guys with top level wins. Crawford doesn't have that type of win yet.
I heard the same thing. Outside of being injured (I don't think he is), there's no other reason he'd go from five fights last year to none so far in 2019.
Loma's win over Russell is good, but it's no better than Crawford's win over Gamboa. Who has Russell really beat? It's not a "significant win", unless Russell goes on to clear 126, but then there's also a case that he improved post-loma. Spence's win over Brook > Russell too. A significant win for Loma would be Mikey Garcia and a significant win for Crawford would be Spence or Thurman if he actually clearly beats Pac and shows he's in 2016-2017 form. Hurd's win over Lara and Williams win over Hurd are good wins but also not career-defining wins. Lara has gotten older and Hurd is a walking punching bag. Estrada's win over Wangek isn't a significant win just due to the fact that Wangek fought like an utter moron. There's a huge asterisk over that win. Ruiz's win over Joshua is significant, I'll give you that, but he has literally no other wins. We can criticize Crawford and Loma for having a bunch of Walters, Martinez, 122 Rigo, Dulorme, Beltran, Benavidez, level opponents, but they're top tier compared to the opposition Ruiz has fought.
Thurman was moving more along the usual path for great fighters, though the 2 years off ruined the momentum. But usually guys that go on to be atg’s have been beating elites since around 24. Nowadays most of these guys are worried on cherrypicking. If thurman beats pacquiao he’s the guy i pick to clean out the division and become an atg.
This is pretty much my point. I agree with you too, they are more concerned with being undefeated as long as possible trying to rack up paydays. They all want to be the face of boxing without putting in the work.
Canelo's most significant win over a top level fighter in their prime is Lara and that was a fight Lara won, but Oscar had already paid off the judges. Usyk has beaten Briedis who is arguably top 10 p4p in the world. He beat Gassiev and made it look easy. Gassiev is also one of the top fighters in the sport. Hell, Beterbiev's win over Gvozdyk is far more impressive than Canelo's wins.
