Close to finalized as the Wilder vs. Fury co-main event, December 1st on Showtime PPV in Los Angeles. 10 rounds @ super middleweight.

El Perro is 2-3 (2) north of 160lbs, most recently losing an 8-round split decision to Sergio Mora in April to snap a 19 month layoff. El Hijo de Leyenda was linked to a rematch with Sergio Gabriel Martínez (who announced his official retirement in June 2015 after several knee surgeries) but that fell through. He is 2-1 at the weight, taking unanimous decisions in the Bryan Vera rematch and versus Dominick Britsch, and being shut out by Canelo in his most recent appearance 1½ years ago.

Either way, the hype train of a limited Mexican brawler will chug back into full gear (at the cannibalized expense of another limited Mexican brawler's hype train probably once and for all)

When you stop and think about it, shouldn't it be the Latin Snake getting this high profile shot on the undercard of the most anticipated HW match of the year? (at least by casuals)

He's the one that beat Angulo, after all - and isn't on an 0-2 skid.

Then again, if you remember how "Jr." looked against the last awkward pain in the ass he fought (Zbik, over whom he got by with a very generous gift decision), it makes sense they'd duck even a shot & rusty Mora in favor of a shot & rusty Angulo (who based on styles and raw p4p h2h power might be a threat if he wasn't so relatively tiny, as is being a nearly guaranteed sensational KO to fool Mexican casuals into thinking Jr. still "has it"..)

Chavez jr is such a joke, might as well fight Yory boy Campus, or Brandon Rios if he is set on fighting a face first fighter that is much smaller than him. If he wants to be taken seriously he should at least fight Vanes Martirosyan or Rosado.

Even those guys (King Gabe or V-Mart) wouldn't fetch too much credit at SMW.

Vanes was being mentioned for getting the fight for a while. He is a career 154lb going against a 168lb if he can make 168lb. I think the Martinez fight fell through because Chavez jr probably wants it at low 170's.

Wasn't Antonio Margarito available for Chavez?

Chavez back to his old cherry picking match making ways I see. I wonder if we'll see any other of Jr's tried and true zingers, like missing weight and failed drug tests.

Chavez is going to absolutely murder Angulo.
Angulo should no longer be sanctioned, he is clearly taken too much damage.

I hope Angulo retires after this.

    Angulo is an 11/2 underdog.
