Yes, this happened, in real life, this year (actually just this past Friday night) - a charity exhibition consisting of three rounds of two minutes' duration... This could probably find a spot on the shortlist of FOTY candidates alongside most genuine sanctioned pro bouts involving active fighters in recent memory.
Chávez immediately afterwards called out Érik Isaac Morales Elvira to step inside the ring for his next exhibition match, to settle their long-standing feud.
That was a great fight. Too bad there was too much of a size difference. Chavez gets an A+ for the word selection he used to call out El Terrible. Old school fighter for sure.
It's badass but at the same time I question if boxing needs a seniors circuit? Arce should be at least a decade younger so that was interesting.
Yeah but if I’m not mistaken, it was for a charity for José Luis Castillo’s son who is hospitalized after a sparring session so I’m sure it wasn’t super serious enough go that far. Everybody enjoyed it from what I’ve seen and it was a hell of a fight as well. And from my observations, JCC was/is in better shape than Arce so it’s not like he, Arce, was fighting an out of shape fighter.
I'm not sure if cool or not... If you were outraged by the youtube fighters having a go, then you probably should be for this.
That was great showmanship. I loved when Chavez shoved the ref out of the way and they went back at it. Also, when Arce would wing shots over Chavez' head while he bobbed and weaved looking unhittable. My hat's off to those two old legends. They really know what people want to see and were always willing to dish it out. Viva Mexico!
Nah, that logic doesn't follow. They're definitely two different things. Sure, this one also has its air of theatrical absurdity, but something about this feels earned in a way the "influencers" playacting at the fight game doesn't.
