Julio César La Cruz Peraza is a 5'11 27 year old Light Heavyweight Amatuer star from Cuba. Born in Camaguey, Cuba, La Cruz is the epitome of everything that I usually dislike in boxing, he has that amateur Cuban style many would call running(including myself) that is usually displeasurable for most fans to watch, and while I find watching guys like Rigo and Lara borderline torture, La Cruz I tend to find a little more exciting, because he at least attempts to fight offensively occasionally. He has an impressive list of victories over very good fighters in the amateurs, the WSB and AIBA, like Joe Ward, Niyazymbetov, Benchabla, Hooper, Mekhontsev, and Koelling. His style is an amalgamation of Rigo, Lara and a little Sergio Martinez added in to help liven it up a little, so it may be a while, or it may be any day now when he decides to defect from Cuba and turn pro, so get ready because all of you Rigo and Floyd fans will have a new fighter to latch onto when Julio shows up. So Check Out Julio El Money-Chacal-Cyclon de Camaguey you Floyd-Rigo guys will love him.:toney:toney:toney:toney

yup, the only time iv seen Cruz box offensively is when he fights complete no hopers

his chin is also a bit suspect, Sep had him rocked and in the last Americas continental tournament he was shock too

Yeah like the Stepien fight, I think he's packing some fine Cuban glass:think
Although I'm trying to be fair, a lot of people on this site will think he's amazing, obviously not my thing though:bart

i think he is an amazing boxer and has super human speed and footwork but a guy with all his gifts would only fight in that manner if they had a big fear of getting hit, he wold get mowed down in the pros especially against the likes of Beterbiev and Kovalev

He's a freak but yes he has a 'boring style'. I think he has the best chance to beat Kovalev of everyone Beterbiev aside.

No point making a thread about the boxer if you are going to bash him yourself. He certainly isn't going to let the opponent take free shots.

Not sure how certain people don't understand that if you posses certain ability, you are going to utilize it. That's what sports are about. You are not going to pretend that you are worse that you actually are so the others could have a better chance. You play the game that you're the best at, that's all.

I've let it be known his style is far from my favorite, and if I gushed about him, I'd look like a hypocrite to any poster who knows anything about my opinions, still he's incredibly skilled and for people who like that style they should know about him if they don't already.

I don't expect him to change, or want him to change, its just not to my liking, I don't have to love everyone I make threads about.

To be honest, I don't know why you even create a classification between the styles. If someone is doing something well, and doing it on the highest level, you should be able to recognize that regardless of your personal preference. If you are constantly repeating your dislike of something that he's doing which is not wrong to begin with, then it speaks about you and not him.

I know that you are not some troll and that you made plenty of quality posts etc, but it doesn't make sense to create a thread (which should be some kind of contribution) about certain boxer and then start the bashing and repeating the dislike of the same boxer right away. It's more logical to just pass on making a thread about the guy, at least in my opinion.

I get what you're saying, but I tried to be fair in my initial post and I got drug into a convo about him running, its not the first time I've bash someone I started a thread about. I try to avoid it though.

Any chance he'll jump on a boat and defect and go "Real" pro?
