Round 1

López is covering up as Tejada wings hard underhanded body shots. López countering with short hooks and jab & looping right combos. Both landing at pretty decent clips throughout round one, Tejada low and López high.

Round 2

López is now throwing his own body shots, as well as the solid 1-2 up top. Heavy leather traded in the pocket, López's defense and offense both sharper. Tejada getting in some good body shots, just less than López is, and not able to score cleanly on the face of López. Tejada gets rocked by some 4- and 5-pieces. Tejada is attempting to push off with his forearm and left elbow to hold López off, but the punches just keep flying in from different angles. Tejada looks hurt, but is shoeshining anyway in front of López. Jaw-jacked by an uppercut.

Round 3

López is forcing Tejada on the backfoot. Savage and precise combination punching, nonstop. López's edge in handspeed and accuracy really making this one-sided. Tejada wobbling about, his nose and mouth oozing blood. They pause to have the doctor look at him during a break in the action. Physician stoppage.

TKO3!!

 

López improves to 4-0 (3) and Tejada falls to 9-1-1 (6).

 

Commentator thinks Tejada's nose might be broken.

 

López looked incredible. If he had fought like that a few weeks back, he could have defeated Khyzhniak and gone on to collect his 3rd gold medal.

 

Aye that was classy.

He saw Tejada's already spotty defense was more or less dilapidated and putting him to sleep was an option but that extra batch of shots would have taken years off the young man's career (if not life).

 

Julio César La Cruz Peraza vs. Madiyar Madiyar Ogli Saydraximov, 10 rounds @ cruiserweight

 

This, in a sense, is "Julio César La Cruz Peraza vs. Madiyar Madiyar Ogli Saydraximov III" - as they've fought twice before, in both the semi-pros (WSB) in 2018 and the amateurs in 2021 at the AIBA world championships in Belgrade.

On both prior occasions, César La Cruz defeated Saydraximov on points.

César La Cruz is keeping his fists down by his knees, shimmying his shoulders to slip the jab of Saydraximov. César La Cruz is styling on his opponent, getting a feel out for his best stuff and not bothering to counter much in the first minute. Saydraximov pushing through his right cross after jabbing into the gloves. Brief clinch. César La Cruz is pushed onto the mat accidentally. César La Cruz is jabbing off the hip.

César La Cruz is starting to warm up to his task a little, yanking his neck away from the Saydraximov jab and then boomeranging in with a 1-2. César La Cruz swaying in front of Saydraximov, making him lunge first, and then scoring with pull-counters. Saydraximov following, hurling rights down the pipe and missing or at best grazing.
