Different Eras. Why some of you insist on arguing about things you could will never know???? Chavez Sr is a legend. A HOF. I was never a fan. But facts are the facts. I really believe with every generation human beings are stronger and better prepared. Chavez is the past. Nice to remember him. But no reasn to compare. Another fact: Chaves also fought a lot of nobody's. But that doesn't take nothing away from his greatness

    What are you talking about?

Judah was utilizing his movement and quickness early, catching Cotto with counters when he'd make his advances to close the distance. He wasn't outworking him. And even in the second round, Cotto adjusted and really took the fight to Judah, making him uneasy with his pressure and well-timed left jab.

Chavez would most definitely not walk through Cotto's punches. If he tried to, he'd get busted up like never before. He'd have to stay defensively aware in this fight.

Doesn't mean **** bringing up this example. It's totally invalid.

Mosley is a much better welterweight than Chavez. Rewatch his early fights at the weight - he's actually quicker of hand since he didn't have to drain. His WW resume includes a win over a prime De La Hoya, and a clear one at that. Tell me where Chavez had a win against that type of opponent at welterweight. You can't.

Apparently the advances in nutrition and training have been so great that athletes from the 1970s and 1980s couldn't beat the guys from today.

Nor the 90's I presume. I can see why they think that though. It's pretty obvious on film that a guy like Mike Tyson was inferior to Oleg Maskaev due to technological advances. Oleg is also better than his own, younger 90's version due to the advances.

    140 - Chavez TKO

147 - Cotto UD or late TKO

I believe the thread said prime. Chavez was past his prime by the time he hit 147. However at 140. Chavez looked his best. Chavez
had the advantage of speed, technique, defense & chin. all of these tools are too much for Cotto to overcome. Once Cotto realizes his big shots would have no effect, Chavez would slowly take control of the fight. Would be very simular to the Rosario fight. No doubt Chavez would lose at 147, Because he is not effective at that weight. Just as Trinidad was not effective at 160.

JCC, no doubt in my mind. Too hard for Cotto. If Torres had Cotto going just imagine what JCC would have done.

Well I don't really know what kind of poster you are, so I can't tell if you're joking or if you're just another one of southpaw1974's aliases.

I'm starting to understand your decision to call it quits at the end of the year.

At welterweight I assume? I'd take Cotto on points. 140lbs is different as Chavez was younger and nearer his prime.
