I have that video on my favorites. It's great

Julio actually shows that you can still have very good defense while being extremely aggressive unlike today's premier aggressive fighter who is sloppy and can't even swarm

Chavez has become UNDER rated over the last ten years.

    He's a top 20 ATG for sure.

Chavez's defense was fantastic. In a lot of ways, I'd consider him a picture-perfect pressure fighter, even though he wasn't limited to a pressure style by any means.

Some fight fans tend to only "remember" the Chavez from his latter part of his career.
During his "prime" he very rarely cut IF ever (maybe on the bridge of the nose @ the most).

Obviously his Offense was his best defense, But he also had good head movement & great balance.

He had solid defense, effective at slipping shots or rolling with them, but a lot of idiots think good defense means you have to run around the ring or be flashy with your defense.

"Oh he is pressuring and coming forward, that must mean he's a skillless brawler who gets by on toughness".

I remember Emmanuel Steward saying Chavez was the best fighter he had ever seen in a gym. That when he wanted to box technically he was the best. Sure, Jcc was no one dimensional brawler, but could he have fought in a completely different style we were not accustomed too seeing him fight? Were there some skills he knew that he just preferred not to use? I've heard Steward mention this at least twice.

If by defense you mean taking punches to the face a lot then yes Chavez had a great defense.

Manny showed exceptional defense in the Singsurat and Torrecampo fights. He also blocked alot of Marquez's shots with his bottom lip it almost looked like he had 2 mouths. Go back to your rice patties failipina.

you mean by the people who only ever seen him against De La Hoya or tsyzu. Chavez is one of the greats. Excellent inside game but combined with the savvyness to cut off the ring he was an animal.

Great defense when you take into account how he fought.

He wasn't always focusing on defense and did not care for it much, but that doesn't mean he did not have it. I think his style and the need to please the Mexican fan base overshadowed his knowledge of the game.
