Julio Cesar Chavez Jr: "Im not scared of Sergio Martinez!"

I wanna dislike Chavez Jr. because of the preferential treatment he's gotten from the WBC, but I can't. The kid grew up with every reason not to fight. Sure, he's probably no more than a B-level fighter living off of his father's name and he has his flaws (gets hit way too much), but he goes in there and does his thing. I was really impressed with his assault on Zbik's body, which was pretty much all you can call it. I know a lot of people felt Zbik should have gotten the nod that night too. I thought Chavez Jr. won that fight, and despite Zbik being a feather-fisted fighter unknown outside of Germany who was basically brought over to lose, I was still impressed with the way Chavez pulled it out. I'm probably one of the few who feels that way considering that the odds were so highly stacked against the German, but that's me and I stand by it.

Anyway, you can't overlook the fact that there is a gulf in class between Martinez and Chavez Jr. Everyone knows it exists and that's why Chavez Jr's team (which Sulaiman is a member of IMO) will steer him in the complete opposite direction.

 

He's already a cash cow that's why he is so over protected because they are making money out of him. The sad part is that a lot of people are already buying into all the media hype is not just mexicans now.

However, calling it his title is indeed fraud. I respect Julio as a fighter but Sergio by ass-****.

I'm officially one of the few Chavez jr supporters on here. I think the serious majority of boxers at this level do not fear other fighters, they are that confident. Chavez would have no issue with fighting Sergio imo, Top Rank just know he would most probably lose though

 

This is bull**** and I'm tried of fans of fighters and the fighters themselves hiding behind Arum. The fighter is the boss the promotor works for him PROMOTING the fights. The fighter is the one that signs the contract and if he wants to fight the best then he should tell Arum "I want ****in Martinez make it happen or I'm not fighting anyone".

Anybody with a damn brain knows chavez is scared to fight martinez. Didnt chavez called out a retired de la hoya? And ask arum to make the de la hoya fight a reality? <<<< If thats the case then chavez should tell arum to make the martinez fight a reality but since chavez wouldnt do it tells me clearly chavez is a freaking coward and a disgrace mexican.

Chavez must know he's dead meat for Sergio unless Sergio grows old overnight but he's in there to build his own career and avoid these guys so these words don't really mean anything.
