    "What’s in a name?

It’s a lot especially if you happen to be the namesake of a Mexican legend. More so, if you happen to be the Son of a Living Legend.

    Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr
. or simply JC Jr. his old man’s fair- haired boy and supposed heir apparent if we believe Top Rank’s never-ending salvo of boxing praise and propaganda to sell him to the boxing public every time he has a fight. And this time as in the past, they are leaving no stones unturned to do just that."

with Morel/Arce as the co-feature it was a respectable card.

but now with that fight scrapped its garbage, but I will still tune-in for the main event to see how Chavez looks under Roach.

I will tune in to see him KTFO.

Did you know Duddy has a reach advantage? I didn't until ESPN listed it.

Chavez Jr under Roach now? There might be some hope, a tiny glimpse of it. Roach is the best there is and even though I don't expect Jr to be anywhere close to the level his father was, the kid is still young and has been babied and protected too much. He needs to grow some balls, risk more and if he loses learn from them, and work on other parts of his game like his speed, jab, foot movement, power, defense, etc then just the same ol left hook to the body. It doesn't work on everyone and he needs to stop trying to be his dad because it isn't going to happen. His brother Omar was a hell of a fighter with very good ring generalship and superior boxing skills before the tragedy with Nazareth happened. Jr needs to do the same and fight smart because at some point he's going to have to fight an elite and he's going to get rude awakening.

    Latin Mediocrity...

To be fair to him, he's got a hell of a name to live up to, and was always going to be a disappointment. But he just doesn't inspire me at all.

John Duddy doesn't inspire me either, but I pick Duddy to take this one...

Bob "Dollars on Deck" Arum and Jose "Get That Paper" Suliaman have come together to bring up a **** storm this time. John Duddy and Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. have no business on PPV, this is an okay Friday Night Fights main event, or a televised undercard for HBO WCB at best. Save your money and watch reruns of Captain Planet.

Say what ye want, I guarantee you this fight will be more entertaining than Pac/Clottey or Mayweather/Mosley. Don't know what ye're bitching about. I'd rather watch an even fight between two B-level fighters than a complete mismatch.

The only PPV that came anyway close to FOTY was Kessler/Froch.

Don't think Chavez Jr. is being advertised as a future legend or something. Bob Arum is using him for his name and often fights very carefully selected opponents, but for once he's in a 50-50ish battle which promises a lot of fireworks, so of all debatable opponent choices, I have no idea why would someone write a negative article when he's in a real fan pleaser.

Jr. is a limited fighter with questionable potential which will be decided under Roach, and ripping off old Chavez fans is not a cool thing. But on the other hand, Chavez Jr. undercards often have very solid small division match-ups which would never get to the audience - or never get made - if there was no big name to sell the whole show.

Like most Roach and Top Rank fighters (except Cotto), he fights handpicked opponents.

Yeah good point that mate, I agree with you there.

I'm not a fan of either fighter but I'm actually looking forward to this. It's at least a fairly even match-up...
