Omotoso is firing his heavy straight jab into the face of Rosas, and countering pincer flurries with uppercuts and flush left hooks. Overhand right by Omotoso across the shoulderblades of Rosas. A brief clinch and push off by Rosas, then a short chop at the body. Omotoso is jabbing into his face and Rosas is grabbing around the waist. Omotoso walks him into a corner and ducks under a windmilling right that claps against his back. Big wide shots by Rosas, caught on the arms. Big combo by Omotoso, hooking away as Rosas ducks back against the ropes and covers up.

20-18 Omotoso

 

His name actually isn't Wale.

It's Oyewale Omotoso, and that's what he went by for most of his career in Australia. I'm not sure why they've shortened it on Boxrec and on American TV.

Wale isn't exactly an "Americanized" version of Oyewale. You'd think they would make him "Wally" if they were trying to do that.

 

Round 3

Omotoso is snapping his left jab just past Rosas'. Good right hands as well, grazing Rosas' jaw coming forward. Rosas is tucking his chin and bobbing away, hugging the ropes. Hooks to the body by Omotoso. The right hand keeps coming close but not quite catching the chin of Rosas flush. Rosas clinches tight and is instructed to let go by the ref. Big uppercuts with left and right by Omotoso. Rosas clinches again. Wild overhand right by Rosas, falls on Omotoso's shoulder. Wild left hook, misses. Rosas is breathing heavily through his mouth. Omotoso pounds him toward a corner and slaps his back as Rosas leans forward. Big hooks and uppercuts by Omotoso, over-committing and missing as Rosas ducks into him.

Eh, not really too cleanly.

They changed his first name and saddled him with this new nickname "Lucky Boy".

When I started watching him (around the time he beat Augustus) he was just plain old "Oyewale Omotoso". It kind of rolls off the tongue. No nickname needed.

 

Round 4

Rosas is diving in with uppercuts and shouldering up against Omotoso. Right hands to the head and body are the penance he pays for his daring. Stiff jabs to the face by Omotoso. Right hand through the gloves by Omotoso. Rosas is clinging to him like Seran wrap. Rosas opens up with an aggressive, angry jab - and Omotoso hooks him in the face, turning it. Omotoso comes forward with his arms held low, chin jutting out as he watches Rosas. Wild overhand shots by Omotoso, missing. Omotoso has spent a lot of energy throwing wild power punches. BIG LEFT HOOK BY OMOTOSO!!
