He wasn't hurt in the Calzaghe fight, but he did the same damn thing.. bad defense, no punching, and no holding when a guy is unloading.

He should have learned from that.

That stoppage was as premature as Lawrence Cole and most of the crack babies on ESB.

I'm not sure Max even saw that one. Nor did nervousxtian, to suggest Pete was "hurt" enough that he should have held to survive.

Calzaghe-Manfredo is widely perceived - and for damn good reason - as literally one of the worst stoppages in boxing history. Like top ten all time.

I saw it, it was top ten all time bad stoppages. Calslappy went slap happy and got a stoppage, it was bull****.

My point is that Peter should have learned you can't give a ref a chance, he gave Cole way too much time to call that stoppage.. he didn't hold until Cole was moving in to stop.

OK, that's a better way of putting it. He even said in the interview, "I'm not used to holding instead of hitting back" although he tried to there at the end before Cole jumped in.

Still, before tonight he'd only ever been hurt once in his career - and that was by a furious & motivated Bika.

Calzaghe - Byron Mitchell is up there (worth a watch for those who haven't seen it - brace yourselves to shout at the ref)
