Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

From what I've seen he has potential but it was a real bad idea to forgoe the amateur years. Now when he looses it is a blight on his record. He is under tremendous pressure to learn and build his resume at the same time. His team has to build the guy slowly for another two years or so otherwise his career would be over. I'm not knocking his talent but stressing the importance of having an amateur carreer where you can loose and learn.

Jr. has a few flaws to work on, but the tools are there for him to hone his skills!

In a recent interview with Chavez Sr.......he stated that talks of a world title fight for his son are premature.......In his estimation, they're going to increase the skill level of his opposition, but that Jr. is still probably 2 years away from putting himself in position to be able to fight with anybody in the world!

Thats good news that the Chavez camp knows that there is still alot of work to be done!


Btw, its a pity that so many in this forum root for Jr. to fail, and dont give him any credit for anything that he may do.

Unfortunately Jr. inherits the detractors that hated his father as well!:yep

 

Divac, if that's true and the boy has two years before they put him in with the pit bulls then the kid is gold. I was more worried about the time it takes to learn the battles and what you already have to know when you enter your first professional bout. His team is professional, they have the dad in their camp, they should know all the dangers about sending him in too early. If they plan the kid right then he would be gold.

 

If he fights the magic man he will get taken to the cleaners and Arum know this, so it think this year Arum should look for guys with inflated records at 154 or 147 and put him in with these guys and keep him winning and step him up next year against a top 10 guy at 154 or 147.

 

Chavez Sr. stated as such when some of the local sportscasts here in LA were questioning when Jr. would be ready for a title shot.
......believe me when I say this, sure Chavez Jr. will milk the financial part of his earning power because afterall he carries the name of Chavez. But the whole Chavez team know where they stand, and they're not in it just for the money.
They will turn down a big money offer if they dont think Jr. is ready for it.
They know for damn sure that there is a process to go through on there way to a title shot!

Chavez Sr. was'nt only a great fighter, but while he was fighting, he did some commentating in the spanish networks, and I know that he has an eye for talent.

Chavez Sr. certainly is going to make sure that Jr. is'nt fed to a pit bull as you've stated if he's not ready.

Sure Chavez Sr. is helping his son during training, but I like that Sr. is letting others that he trusts train his son, and he's not in his sons corner when he fights.....Sr. is always in the stands.....

 

Chavez Jr is the future I like him.
