Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. was truly a great fighter. I'm totally unimpressed with Junior. He looks very ordinary to me. His list of opponents are undistinguished as they come, he's really beaten nobody. He's been protected because of his name. His next opponent is Andy Lee. Lee says he'll be a star after he beats Chavez. But does he have the skill to do it? This is an interesting match up and I could see Junior losing this one. http://www.ProBoxingTrainer.com
Hes a good money spinner (chavez jnr), and unless Lee can knock him out hes losing on the scorecards in my opinion
He's not the most skilled fighter in the world and I agree earlier in his career he looked very ordinary, but since hooking up with roach he has improved ten fold and I don't think anyone can deny that. He's putting the work in the gym, like anyman would I'm sure he wants to create a legacy of his own and not piggyback off his father, of course his promotional backing are gonna play off the son of a legend, it would be foolish not to. Zbik, rubio and lee is not a bad string of opponents at all.
Yeah, Rubio won the fight in my opinion so basically the only legit name on his resume should have an asterisk. Jr. is limited but he's well schooled on how to use his size/weight to his advantage so as long as he's able to hit 160 he's going to be a difficult matchup for any MW except Golovkin, Pirog or Pavlik. I honestly think a matchup with Martinez would be closer than most would like to believe(please watch the Macklin fight again). Hell, Pavlik probably didn't even know where he was until the 4th round and he still went the distance...
for whats it worth, and jumping into boxing to make money off his dad's name, he's grown to be a solid B to B+ fighter. I dont consider him as A Caliber talent & skill, until proven against another A Caliber opponent...
