i mean, i understand what kirk says, but to a certain point only.....i dont think cavez jr is a spoiled little ****en brat with all kinds of money....i mean, the kid is clearly earning his own, AND SINCE HE WAS 16....

it's not like he's arrogant and has an attitude....the kid just wants to fight, and thats it....

i remember all the praise julio cesar garcia use to get when he was a prospect.....chavez has fought the better opposition and still gets shitted on for it.....i know it's simple his last name, but that aint the kids fault, neither are the stupid judges, or stupid fans that made it seem like he lost........

Hmmmmmm......its over at f-news now that Chavez Jr. was so distraught with the way he was treated by the fans, that he's mulling over a possible retirement.

He's come this far, I doubt he'll retire.

To hear the boo-birds in his own backyard has got to hurt......

......Sr. is saying that his son was sick. He should just stay quiet really....even if its true, its sounds like a bunch of BS excuses.

What may be sorely lacking in Jrs camp is somebody in that corner of respect that can crack the whip at Jr. when its required.
Chavez Sr. in his prime had Buffalo Martin in his corner to do just that.
For those who dont know who Buffalo Martin is, he's the cornerman in Chavez' Sr. corner who pleaded with Chavez in his fight with Meldrick Taylor to do it for his family......."we cant lose not one more ****ing round"......
Buffalo Martin was a no-nonsense type of individual who knew the fightgame and who also worked in Azumah Nelson's corner during his prime.
Buffalo worked with Nelson, despite a language barrier.....Buffalo's inbetween chats with Nelson consisted of a universal language tirade of obcenities, every other word being ****.... When Buffalo felt he was'nt reaching Nelson with his words, he used to literally with an open hand slap Nelson around at his cheeks telling him to listen.
You know you have a fighters respect, when he allows you to open hand slap you in the face inbetween rounds as you nod ok.:yep

Sorry I went a little off topic, but I thought some of you might remember Buffalo Martin, and for those who dont, get a little chuckle over him. Buffalo was a character, but he knew his boxing!:deal

Back to Jr.....Its likely to blow over in a few days though, and Jr. should be OK.

Next time I see Jr. in the ring, based on this performance, I expect to see a physique closer to Felix Sturm than to Hector Camacho Sr.

one thing i admire about jr is this....

imagine being the son of a ****en legend...you can go the rest of your life and live off of that, and have bragging rights for the rest of your life....all chavez jr had to do was be born and that respect and love was mandatory.....ok, well that's not enough for the kid, the kid wants his own legacy, his own respect and his own stamp on the sport....that's something that you can really admire and love.....i mean, the fact that this kid really wants his own name and doesn't try to hide behind his dad's accomplishments like hearns jr and mcgirt jr and even camacho jr is truly ****en amazing.....

it aint his fault that his promoter see's easy money, cause it sure as hell aint easy for chavez jr...the kid is the one fighting and getting his head bashed every once in a while...

it aint his fault that one stupid judge scored it 100-90...

The one who is hyping Jr. up is his pops, Sr. Did you hear him call out DLH? Jr. didn't, it was Sr. ..." si eres hombre muestralo contra mi hijo..." Jr. has yet to fight a worthy opponent, I understand he had no amateur background, but come on.
The Mexican public is getting tired of it as well, they just want him to step it up. Fighting Vanda in a rematch in the USA would be a great way to redeem himself. If he was sick or just didn't train proper, he'll prove it in a rematch.
I don't hate the kid at all, I would just like to see him step it up.

I think that a lot of the hate for him comes from the fact that he is not a grreat fighter but he is being given the chances that a great fighter commands simply because of who his dad is.

Think about any other fighter with Chavez Jr's skills, they would not be getting the TV exposure that he gets or the PPV's or the negotiating power and the paychecks. He was born with a boxing equivalent of a silver spoon in his mouth. He's kinda like a paris hilton. She makes money on her own and is building her own name but there is nothing special enough about her for her to have gotten those chances if her last name was not hilton.

Not saying the hate is justified but that is one of the reasons that people hate on him.

    Edit
PS I just went throught he thread and realised that kirk said pretty much the same exact thing I did.

well he did step up and he got tested, right....i dont think matt was a step down, do you :huh :huh :huh

i agree though, a rematch in the states will make him earn mad respect......maybe on the undercard of oscar delahoya in hopes to set up a fight with him.......not saying he'll win, the god damn would that be a ****en riot of a promotional party :good

come on man, PARIS ****EN HILTON :huh :huh :huh
    that's more like camacho jr.....
chavez jr was born with the boxing world behind him, true.....but so what...if you were in his shoes would you be like "nah arum, i wanna fight my way out of the gutter and earn my respect the macho way, don't get me any air time or ppv's" :-( :-( :-(

come on man, you gotta understand the kid and where he's coming from too.....he can very well be on his high horse, but instead chooses to be a work horse which is ****en rare now a days.....think about it man, the kid could be in silk pj's right now talking **** about everybody and anybody....but the kid don't want that, he's simply speaking with his fists that he wants his own damn respect...

maybe some one should call Teddy Atlas to train JCC jr, so he could sit on the stool after the bell and tell JCC jr that he is lying to himself like he did to Moore.

    i just read this

    Chavez Jr. to retire?
    By Jose Reyes
After Julio Cesar Chavez Jr's controversial split decision win over Matt Vanda on Saturday night, Junior dropped the bombshell that he's considering hanging up his gloves for good. "The people wanted me to score a knockout but I could not," Chavez Jr. told TV AZTECA. "The people are very, very discontented with the result (this as Julio Sr is being booed when trying to calm down the crowd) and what can I tell you? What can I tell you as a fighter? Everything is just very sad....because of the fight....I don't know what to do. I don't know what I will do. I need to think about it real hard. I am considering retirement."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, Julio Sr. lashed out at unruly fans who booed and threw things into the ring after the controversial decision was announced. "It's a group of drunks," said the Mexican legend. "I don't like excuses, but my son made a super human effort, he fought sick and wanted to cancel the fight. The doctor gave him a shot because he had a fever after the weigh-in," he said.

    ----------------------------------------------

I hope he doesnt retire because of this..... although i am a hater, he showed good things against his toughest opponent to date, and shouldnt let a bunch of drunks ruin that win.

not only that, but they were throwing **** at sr too....but just like JAY R said, stupid ass drunks probably only remember the last round :-(
