yup.....martinez didnt have to do anything out of his element vs pavlik....that's cause all pavlik had were 1 2 bombs...avoid that, and you're good to go.....martinez being elusive, and quick on his feet is exactly how he fights, so all he had to do was stick to his marbles....vs jr, he's gonna need a different gameplan since jr goes to the body a lot, and doesn't come in with 1 2's, he comes in low with his hands held up high....you see, either way jr's gonna have a nice chance to counter...wether martinez goes upstairs or downstairs, the opportunity is gonna be there......when jr crouches down and comes in, he blocks good..so if martinez goes upstairs, chances of him landing are pretty slim unless he throws punches in bunches which he rarely does....so that'll be a perfect pressure style of countering martinez and beating him in his own game..........if martinez chooses to attack the body, he's gonna have to reach in deep cause of the way chavez crouches, he kinda has his body behind his guard...so if martinez reaches in, and still acts cute with his hands down, another huge opportunity for jr to counter while pressuring....and we all know those punches bruise you up, and eventually take their toll on you later i the fight

The only thing i worry about for Jr in this fight is his conditioning. If he comes in 12 full round shape, I think he will win.

 

But don't you think Martinez will keep a jab in Chavez' face ("keep the bugs on the windshield") to keep him from getting set?

 

What I'm saying, is that many people were calling Chavez Jr. to get beat by Lee. Hence, the semi-overating of the win. It was still a good win, despite how you wanna downplay it.

I knew Chavit was gonna win too, but the manner in which he did was still impressive.

 

I don't think Chavez Jr. is a "great" fighter by any length. Though, he does have the attributes that will see him far in this game.

I just think this is a bad style match up for Martinez. If Sergio had better stamina and didn't get "exchange" happy, at times, I would give him a great chance to simply outbox Julio. But he doesn't and he does.

 

i think he will...he banged with a banger for a full 12 vs rubio...then vs lee he looked in greater shape....
