Oscar mentions it in his book, and mentions getting dropped by Chavez. He also mentioned that Shane was there as he was the big amateur star in LA also.

Shane Mosley is about .00000025% the fighter that Chavez was. Really no comparison in terms of quality.

 

Great sparring for both. Chavez Jr is somewhat similar to Mora and Mosley is somewhat similar to Cotto.

To describe Chavez as a heavy-bag with legs is to be stupid. He utilized great head movement in his prime, and tucked his chin into his chest to minimize the effect of his opponents offensive arsenal. Great offensive fighter, certainly, but he was a pretty good defensive fighter, too. Best combination puncher to body and head that I've seen since maybe Floyd Patterson or Roberto Duran.
