Great battle. Hatton hits harder at this weight, I feel. Chavez much more accurate though, and although Julio does get hit, he rides the shots better than Hatton, who is stopped on his feet after five or six rounds of non-stop action.

Prime Chavez would beat Hatton into a bloody pulp, i was never a Chavez fan but, cmon Chavez was tougher, stronger, and just a better all around fighter with a much harder head, i doubt Hatton would last 6 rounds...

History has proven repeatedly that English fighters don't do well against fighters from Mexico, especially in the lower weight classes, they just don't have that deep down inner strength, grit and toughness that the Mexicans have:-(

Easy win for Ricky, Chavez is the most overrated fighter of all time.

In what way is Chavez overrated?

Punching ability, defense, skilled, resume? Lets say he is overrated which is not but I can understand this accusation at some point. Does that oppinion take away how he would do again Hatton?

I mean, when Chavez and Hatton get in the ring, will Chavez that KO'ed Taylor in one of the greatest fights in boxing history lose to a guy that had some success at 140. Hatton fought a great fight again Tszyu, with some help from the ref and dirty fighting. Hatton never had an easy fight. He was always getting hit and dinged even in his best fights.

Hatton cannot hurt Chavez. He will not be faster than Taylor nor will he be able to muscle Chavez. Chavez is one of the toughest men to ever fight and Hatton would be very lucky to not get KO'ed in 15 rounds with Chavez.

    Chavez by KO 13.

140 isn't Chavez' best weight, but he was still at beast at 140. If Hatton can't hurt him (and I doubt he can) it's a question of times as to how long Hatton can hang in there...painful lesson for Hatton in terms of levels of ability.

Chavez is easy to overrate. He'd still beat Hatton six ways to Sunday.

Hatton would have a chance against the mid/late 90s version of Chavez who averaged 12 beers and 3 lines a day.

Chavez would brutalize him and knock him out within 5 rounds. I can't see him lasting longer than Greg Haugen who was at about the same level as Hatton.

Given that Ricky could box really well when he had to, Ala Tackie Urango, and that Julio rarely rushed, but was content to cruise to victory, i think this would of been a very watchable encounter, ...until Julio stepped on the gas...circa 9th perhaps...Ricky is not one dimensional like Andy Holligan.

You say that, but name me one English fighter that has quit in a world title fight? That’s right YOU CAN’T and you want me to name a Mexican quitter, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, And when I think of it off the top of my head I can name more English fighters that beat Mexicans than vice versa

Chavez by mid rounds beat down.

Anything Hatton can do, Chavez can do better.
