Chavez doesn't always seem to be all that loved on here so I thought i'd ask how would you rate his resume....

The luckiest fighter of all time! Got the worst stoppage in boxing history against Taylor, got the worst robbery in boxing history against Whitaker, got further gift decisions against González and Frankie Randall and his record is padded with at least 80 bums, but he had some good wins in-between. His resume is merely GOOD.

That about sums it up. Later in his career he may have gotten a couple of lucky breaks but otherwise...he cleaned up. Some opponents fought him for the payday, not because they necessarily wanted to

His record is very misinterpretive, his resume is certainly great, but it's not like it's one of the best of all time.

    Extremely underrated.

Alot of people are quick to call most of his wins a bunch of bums when in fact they were good fighters in their prime at the time they fought Julio.

It´s not like he could create a new Henry Armstrong to fight with him though...
Just saying that he couldn´t do nothing about it..he beat the best guys in his era, didn´t he ?

How many fighters could have had that 87-0 record streak?

And I don't mean a prime guy in fantasy h2h matches, but a man who could be consistent till the very end.
Longetivity is extremely hard, and getting 87-0 is impressive and it's not like Chavez ducked anybody.

He doesn't have a win over a single great fighter, but loads of quality scalps all the same. Not great compared to monsters like Greb or Charles or anyone like that of course, but I think it stacks up just fine when compared to the other top resumes of his era.

    Very Good overall.Great consistency.

Most of his really good work was done by 1990.After that it was safe soft opposition or faded names all the way until Whitaker.

I admire his consistency, even as soon as he stepped up, nothing had changed really, still ruthless.

Duran, Whitaker and Mayweather would have all walked though that 87-0, i'm sure there are a couple others.

Floyd fights one time a year :patsch

I really can't imagine him fighting an average of 5 times a year for such a long time like Julio did.
