Pryor by decision. Chavez needed help from a corrupt promoter, the head of a Mexican cartel and paid off officials in his biggest fights. He should have an additional three losses tagged on his record. Aaron never needed anyone's help.

Aaron needed a black bottle full of stimulants and an aging jr. lightweight to build his name off of.

Not totally sure. Both these men were seemingly unstoppable forces at 140. Chavez was durable as they come and usually found a way to figure out his opponents. He was also a very active fighter for the times he fought in. Pryor had fast hands, lots of power and never stopped throwing . I’m not totally sure to be honest. I do however think that Julio best a longer list of ranked men.

I feel the same way although I am leaning towards Pryor's hand speed to win out over the strength and pressure of Chavez. It's a true pickem fight.

would Pryor be too busy? Win too many rounds on sheer volume?

Chavez might make Pryor look stupid...... OR Chavez meets his match.

Chavez in a great fight. Just too durable and consistent for Pryor.

A match like that would have been considered a generational super fight. Might even have resulted in multiple meetings

I agree, Arguello was completely out of his natural weight division by at least 2 divisions, and as Pryor's feet started to slow down, Arguello was landing with more and more frequency until Pryor unfortunately had to cheat. I wouldn't say Arguello was aging, but he was fighting 2 divisions higher than what he should and the fact that Pryor felt the need to cheat, Chavez would definitely have beaten him, it's a shame Arguello sailed off into the sunset after the rematch, he should've moved back down and weight and recaptured a title

after viewing the Whitker and Taylor fights, I am far from confident In JC's chances

In the Taylor fight, he wasnt nearly as busy as he should have been, backing off much too often and refusing to press in, falling behind to the point where only the ref could save him

in the whitaker fight, he needed the judges to help him out with a draw

and in the rematch with Randall, a fighter who had previously beat him, he needed more help to help him regain his title. NO WAY was he ahead in that rematch

    this just isn't good enough

Chavez could never keep up with The Hawk. Pryor would drive him up the wall

I used to default to Chavez but nowadays i am a lot more open on this one. Chavez' absolute peak weight IMO was 135 and i also think that by the time he campaigned at 140 he was starting to slip a touch. Pryor was strong at the weight and obviously peaked there in all facets. One guys at his best here and one is just slightly off it.

Chavez is more "fluid" than Alexis both defensively and offensively and he too will find holes in Pryor's somewhat reckless technique. Can Pryor's workrate somewhat stifle Julio's offense as the quicker Taylor's did? Can Chavez get on top of Pryor and impose his technical advantages?

Chavez is one of the great infighters and it's here he will look to wage. Pryor will mix it up set a frantic pace which will be fine by Chavez. Pryor has boundless energy and stamina but he's also going to come off second best a lot of the time in close. Both have great heart, great stamina and superb durability.

Great matchup. The action will be fierce in a FOTY contender if not default winner.

Good analysis. They might have both peaked at 135. Aaron just moved to 140 because he got tired of the 'champions' down there avoiding him.
This is an evenly matched battle. A true superfight. Chavez did damage to the body with his power and precision. He made more guys quit on their stools than anyone. His skills to this day are not totally appreciated.
Aaron Pryor was a Tornado and a Hurricane mixed together. So much ability and so much chaos.
IMO the key would be how Pryor's punching power affected Chavez. Aaron Pryor knocked out just about everyone he fought. Power along with the volume of punches. That might be the recipe to neutralize Julio. My gut tells me that if Aaron Pryor had enough pop to Knock Ray Leonard down he could make JCC feel him.
Julio Cesar Chavez proved himself over a longer time and is the greater fighter. From what I saw with my own two eyes I can't pick Julio. I'd take Aaron Pryor.

    PS
I've never seen a fighter get knocked down and jump up and immediately chase the guy who knocked him down around ring in anger. That's the kind of crazy you want on your side.

Pryor the most overrated fighter in history who used drugs to defeat others his rejuvenation abilities were well know as a result of his usage during fights
