At 135, i think Rosario is clearly better.

Marquez stays the route and takes a beating at 130 or 135. He might get close to a weight drained 130 Chavez (vs. Laporte) but then again, he doesn't have Juan's punch resistance to stand and trade for 12 rounds with Julio so even if he faces that kind of a debilitated Chavez, it's hard to see him staying in the race.

Watch the Lockridge fight. Shows better skills off the back foot than I've ever seen from Marquez. Marquez doesn't really show much ability exclusively off the back foot. He prefers to box in range, await countering opportunities from over-reaching shots (or just any opening), and fire.

Exactly. No idea how this one lasts three pages. Marquez gets ripped apart here, he doesn't have the feet or the skills to stop Chavez walking inside and once he does he's just losing in every way.

He'll take a couple of steps back when needed to evade punches then fire back with counters, usually he circles rather than backs up, very efficient and technically sound

Chavez could box and counterpunch very well, but Marquez built his whole style into it, and made adjustments with a precision that I don't see Chavez implement going backwards. He's not loads better than Chavez, but IMO he's still the better counterpuncher.

Regardless, I still don't think Marquez wins at 135. I'm just pointing out that Marquez as a counter-puncher does more off the backfoot than Chavez does on the regular.

At 130, Marquez had comparable hand and foot speed. At 135, his offensive switch in styles makes him too much of a target and he gets beat by a very complete and consistent Chavez.

I think Marquez would make an exciting fight out of it. But, I don`t think anyone can take Chavez pinpoint, heavy shots consistently in a fight. JMM would take heavy punishment and get stopped in rd 9. Chavez was really cute inside, and 135 a true beast

Julio was brilliant on the backfoot against Jose Luis Ramirez. Showed some excellent counterpucnhing.

My 2nd favorite performance by Julio after the Rosario one. :good
