i think chavez would do something similar to what ricky hatton did. just keep him under constant pressure and get a points win
This is a tough one for me. While I'm a massive Tszyu fan, a prime Chavez would be a bull to face for him. I don't really see any comparisons to be made between Hatton and Chavez either, as the Hatton/Tszyu fight was a foul filled joke, with Kostya being past his prime anyway. I'll give the very slight nod to JCC in this one.
I'd actually take Tszyu in this one: he's the lesser boxer in an achievements sense, but I think Chavez's style would play into Kostya's hands. Chavez was a pressure fighter, but he wasn't a "hug you and pound you" swarmer like Hatton. Hatton gave Tszyu absolutely no room to get off his counter shots, but Chavez liked having a bit of space to work himself. It would be a brawl between two iron-chinned warriors and I favour the warrior who has more skill and more power: Zoo.
And Hatton was very hard to time for Tszyu's right hand. He closed the distance quickly, although at times he walked onto a few flush rights throughout the fight. Understandable considering both are attacking minded fighters. Hatton IMO upset Tyszu's rhythm to dictate the temp of the fight. Chavez's style was steady and precise, which would give Tszyu time to land the right hand. Tszyu would certainly keep Chavez where he wanted him, for lengthy spans anyway. Something he couldn't do with Hatton due to persistence, speed, and an untidy style.
Good analyzation of the two fighters. But I think the key difference is, Tszyu tends to get weaker in the late rounds and Chavez gets stronger. I would pick Chavez by late round TKO or decision win.
I certainly don't think Chavez could stop Zoo and while Kostya would drop a lot of round later on, I think he'd still win a firm decision. If Tszyu tires badly, it's going to be beyond the point where Chavez needs a stoppage to win, and I don't think that Chavez's style is going to be effective enough against Tszyu for that to work. Let's not pretend Tszyu was a slouch in the later rounds, either: he was still going life-and-death with Hatton in the 11th round of a total war and didn't look THAT tired. In fact, at times during the 11th, Hatton looked more tired.
kostya took it easy on an old (but game) chavez and nearly killed him.. if you take ten years off that chavez all that happens is hes fitter, more determined and speeds up a bit. tszyu still beats him, but its closer.. jcc wins 3 or 4 rounds..
I am a big fan of Zoo, but lets get real, he was beaten pillar to post in his prime by a dope addict who landed the same punch over and over again until Zoo finally went out on his feet. Zoo never made ANY adjustments during the fight to avoid that specific shot, he went like you hit me and I hit you, you ain't gonna do that with Chavez...........a similar thing never happened to JC even when he was declining. Chavez bodywork and defense are in a league on its own plus constant pressure and excellence in cutting off the ring. A extremely fast, fluid and with some real punch pop, boxer like Meldrick Taylor looked like a grotesk mask after JC was done with him while himself he looked like he came straight out of the dressing room. While Zoo was undoubtfully not the same he once was against Hatton he still was unable to adjust, not even in spurts . So Chavez by UD or late TKO. Same outcome Chavez against Hatton except there will be no UD because Ricky is going to get stopped even with Mayweather in his corner.
JCC was an all-tme great. Tszyu a heck of a fighter but a level below. JCC while acknowledged as a great fighter, just doesn't seem to get the credit he deserves. He lost to tszyu but JCC was 38 yrs of age at the time.
Chavez would apply too much pressure and give Kosta no room and beat him on the inside plus in his prime Chavez had an amazing chin he took Rosario's shots like they were nothing. Chavez wide decision winning the latter rounds big possibly late stoppage.
