How so??? I mean, If Duran kept the fight at a distance then I could see it, but we all know Duran was full of machismo and would undoubtedly fight Chavez' fight.

Chavez was a superior infighter imo, and I think Duran gets lured into that type of fight with Chavez.

Both would have success, but right now I think that Chavez may win this after all, unless Duran keeps it in the center of the ring, then it's closer and I lean towards duran.

Look at this pathetic snitch making a post on this thread just to prove to the people that accused him on another thread of only talking about one fighter that its not the case.

This is the same cat that said he didnt cared about past fighters.

You try too hard snitch wigger.

I said that once, but now a person can't change their mind?

You're quite obsessed with me. You've got some issues.

see that's exactly how i see it but i see duran's superior boxing winning. the duran of the dejesus fight had more mobility than chavez and would use angles. the machismo is a great point, and one i hadn't considered, which could certainly make it closer than i initially thought. but the throughout the fight i see duran taking the majority of a lot of very close rounds. when he isn't dragged into an inside war, he'd dominate. duran at his very best was a better, more controlled boxer than he gets credit for and i see him outboxing and hurting late the chavez from the rosario fight

Duran's clearly a better infighter than Chavez.

eeep, i love the living **** out of duran and will eternally defend him...but i don't know about that. more versatile? maybe. but i wouldn't say clearly better. duran is certainly up there but on the inside, chavez strength and body attack is a notch above and his defense was suberb, subtle almost imperceptible shifts. chavez was one of the greatest of all time in a phone booth

He had better defense in close, was more flexible at the waist and slipped shots better, gave more angles, and was quicker too. More unpredictable than Chavez in close as well....and watching the Leonard 1 fight, I think it's clear he's the superior in this category. Just my opinion, but these are 2 of the best infighters in history.

I'm confident that Duran would win this one.

I wouldn't say he was stronger than Duran, not at all. His style just relied more on bulling his way through a fighter's defense (not in a crude way, mind you), so he'd probably appear the more physically imposing of the two at times.

The two were quite different in their approaches, actually. Duran relying more on feinting his way in and keeping the opponent off balance with the angles/subtle defensive shifts he'd give off combined with a more unorthodox/unpredictable body-head combination punching style. Chavez more of a highly textbook, "kill the body and the head will die" pressure stalker. Duran was the more highly skilled and versatile (which you pointed out) of the two from close range, in my opinion. More variety in his work. No doubt Chavez's versatility gets underrated at times, though. His defense was also very good. Nice little shifts of the head, parry and counter skills, blocking punches with his arms and elbows, etc. Very accurate puncher as well, even at mid/long range with that straight right.

Chavez is one of the few guys that could beat Duran at lightweight.

I think there is an argument there but Ill take Duran for the reasons covered very well already.
