This would be a super great fight and Mosely would trouble him with his speed and even catch Chavez attention with his power..... But Chavez was just too damn accurate, this was his best weight and we would seen an even better version than the one who fought Taylor and reigned at JW for so long. Mosely surely fought great competition at WW and JM, but at Lw he had no big fight experience yet and although physically in his prime i still think Chavez has too much here... Chavez wins a very close decision here. I think Shane takes a lot of punishment in the late rounds.

Just thinking back to two pressure, smothering type fighters that Mosley fought as a lightweight.Phillip Holiday and John Brown - and Mosley looked like absolute garbage against both of them. Both men were too **** to get through with any meaningful offense of their own,but they were succesful in negating Mosley's offense for the most part. And Chavez was great at smothering his opponents work without hurting his own inside work, too.

I would favour Chavez to win this quite decisively.

There is a sparring session between a young Shane and then JW champ Chavez floating around here somewhere.... All the Mexicanos in the background were yelling and calling him Meldrick Taylor.

Chavez by a UD. Shane is taking some punishment in this one.

Mosley UD too much speed, power, strength, chin, its sort of like the Meldrick Taylor match except Mosley has the power to hurt Chavez to the head and body and the chin to take anything Chavez lands. Shane is the real Mexicutioner

I would have bet the ranch on the over and this is a decision bout all the way. I sure don't see Mosely stopping this guy & Shane's chin keeps him in there against Chavez.

    Chavez w12.

Outstanding match-up. Chavez wins via unanimous decision after giving mosley a beating over the last three to four rounds. The fight is close at the beginning however as mosley's speed, agilty and power give Chavez trouble. I must point out that this fight would not be like the taylor bout because Mosley uses his speed in a different way than taylor did. Chavez had trouble with taylors blazing hand speed AND combination punching in which he would throw a five to seven punch combination so fast that Chavez couldn't get his punches off. Mosley never had that hand speed or discipline to throw combinations like that. Mosley would be Closer to Whitaker style-wise (uses jab, not as many combos) but he lacks Whitakers amazing defensive talent and southpaw stance. Therefore Mosley gets hit much more than Whitaker (doesn't have the movement or technique) and Taylor (no combos that consistantly throw off his timing.) did. Mosley's power and quickness keep it close early but eventually he will get worn down from the abuse. Again Chaves by Ud.

Excellent post:good Especially when comparing how Taylors used his speed different.. It was those flasy multi combos that were troubling Chavez and Mosely wouldnt come at him that way.

Chavez pts 8-4 or 9-3. Shane would have his moments but JCC pressure and acuracy too much. Shane's not a mover like Pernell or a blitzing volume puncher like Meldrick.

Like Meldrick Taylor, Shane has fast hands. Unlike Taylor, Mosley's punches have an impact. What Chavez gives, he will also get. Not to mention Mosley's reach advantage. A very hard-fought affair that Mosley takes by close but clear decision.

I think Chavez would win. Mosley was fast but he was still a close range fighter. I think Chavez was better
