Beltran is throwing vicious hooks to the body and 1-2's up top. Farenas is put on the defensive now, circling away and blocking. Good lead left by Farenas. Right hooks to the body by Beltran scoring as he reaches down and over. Farenas backs away to circle wide, hands up very high to protect his head. Beltran whips him with long shots to the free target of Farenas' body. Farenas extends his front leg and pops stiff jabs into Beltran's face before darting back outside. Farenas is landing well when he deigns to, but all one at a time and he's getting caught on the outside as Beltran pursues him and targets that midsection.

Round 4

Quick right jab by Farenas, who then ducks and crawls out the side door on Beltran. Hard left crosses being set up by Farenas as he circles and pops the jab. Beltran is getting hit with that straight left to the face regularly. Beltran is ignoring the cut, doing virtually no head hunting and focusing on the body. Down-jabs to the body by Beltran. A few jabs to the face, but mostly just used to set up lefts to the gut. Farenas took a quick knee!! The ref didn't apply a count! :? His knee definitely touched the canvas while he was taking punches. Farenas throws a 1-2 before darting back, and Beltran marches up lobbing body shots. Jabs to the body. Looping left to the side of the head by Farenas as he backs into the ropes. Beltran keeps pressuring intensely, working upstairs and downstairs now. Farenas clinches. Jabs scoring low and high by Beltran.

Round 5

Double right hook by Farenas as he glides around Beltran in a tight circle. Beltran tries to place his jab but is having difficulty again coping with Farenas' movement. Big overhand lefts by the rangy Farenas diving in. Uppercut and straight combo by Beltran, hits guard. Farenas is staying just outside, blocking a lot of punches. Beltran slows down, saving energy and remaining cautious. Farenas takes a few whipping underhand lefts to the body and lands a hard straight left lead of his own to the jaw of Beltran. They trade jabs and Farenas takes a step outside, just to quickly come flurrying in while Beltran is relaxed. Beltran is tossing out right jabs with his left hand held down by his abdomen, and getting countered in the face by the straight lunging shots of Farenas delivered while sliding in and out.

You can tell it's on delay anyway, as TV5 is showing long commercial breaks (more than one minute) between each round.

I don't think the delay is that long, though. It's only five minutes of 10pm in Honolulu. The main event, if it did already start (and that isn't even a sure thing, as PIPO has been caught bullshitting in the past) can't have started too long ago. We're already more than halfway through the scheduled distance of this chief supporting bout.

 

Round 6

Beltran is back to working that body. Farenas is getting a head start on him running as far back across the ring as he can, and then lunging with left hands that sail over Beltran's back and result in them coming together in a clinch (often with head bumps). They exchange at close range, Farenas' hands a good deal quicker but Beltran's a bit heavier and making some contact. Farenas is pushed back by a string of right jabs and lead lefts. Beltran is throwing long shots, accurately finding the chest and ribs of Farenas while advancing. Farenas has a high guard that isn't doing him much good. Nor is his movement as Beltran just keeps marching him down and leaning back to slip Farenas' lunging jabs and lefts.

Round 7

Hard right hook by Beltran. Flurry to the body by Farenas. Another flurry leaning forward while circling. Farenas likes to throw punches in mid-stride. He's able to stun Beltran a little when he puts some extra emphasis into his left hand but never really stops to turn anything over firmly. Beltran is reaching out with jabs and hooks, trying to get through or around the guard. Beltran just inches forward, accepting the lunging flurries coming his way to get close with his penetrating jab. 1-2 by Farenas claps the shoulders of Beltran as he turns with it. Body shots by Beltran. Farenas clinches him and Beltran keeps tapping his sides. Right hook and left uppercut to the body. Farenas drifts to the ropes and is nailed with a left hand up top. Beltran is warned to keep some of his body shots up. Big combo by Farenas before falling in to clinch. Left hand by Beltran.

So on my card Farenas can only salvage a draw unless he knocks Beltran down or out.

 

Round 8

They touch gloves, and then full-on hug before the bell. Farenas keeps looking back at his corner, maybe listening to instructions. Beltran gets his jab going straight away. Slapping lefts by Farenas as he circles tirelessly. Constant movement by Farenas, moving to the side and back at angles. Farenas ducks very low, well below the waist, squatting even further down than Beltran can reach out of his upright stance. Farenas is wobbled by a shot! He circles defensively, then clinches. Right hook and left hand combo by Beltran, crashing into the high guard. Farenas slaps with another left hand and falls purposefully into a clinch. Body shot by Beltran. Farenas tries to peck at him with keep-away shots, but Beltran just twists and slips them while encroaching on Farenas with a sustained body attack. Farenas is just clinching on the inside. Hard body shots by Beltran, a few straying low. Stiff jabs to the face by Beltran. Farenas flurries hard up close, using some elbow and then grabbing.
