Two pound for pounds guys for year after year yet two completly contrasting styles. Who ranks higher ATG and who has the better resume?
Roy Jones jr easy. However some posters on this board put a premium on beating 100 Mexican cab drivers. So they'll probably pick JCC.
JCC easily. Roy jones beat up sissy firemen, bowl legged police officers, blind PE teachers, White Castle Drive up window workers, high school janitors. JCC only took on the toughest cab drivers available from the toughest neighborhoods to stay sharp and Roy Jones took them on for PPV main events :rofl
Some bums? Who did JCC beat on the level of Hopkins or Toney? The only elite fighter in that category of fighter was Sweet Pea, and he got his ass beat and needed some crooked judges to save him. Roy Jones was more skilled and fought the better fighters. Not just better, but you know, not janitors.
Standing in ATG depends on your career & your resumé (i.e. quality of opponents fought & conquered!). So as an ATG, I suppose JCC stands higher... even though Roy had a more illustrious career (former middleweight champ winning the heavyweight crown, albeit against John Ruiz.... that's HUGE... Sugary Ray Robinson fell short in doing that iirc)
I rank Roy Jones higher but saying that Chavez only fought bums is stupid. when you fight as manny times as Chavez did of course there will be a lot of bums in your resume but he also beat quality guys like Taylor,Camacho,Rosario,Limon,Martinez,Haugen,Tony Lopez,Lockridge, uncle rog,JL Ramirez,Laporte,Castillo .
Roy won more belts.. and that HW belt-win was HUGE in terms of legacy. But JCC fought & has victories over better fighters! & won his fair-share of titles @ diff. weights as well
