Saw it coming in the interview, half expected him to just announce it during.

"Time for me to know my time has come and clear space for the young guns", or something like that.

Nah, he is pretty shopworn and well above his peak weight. (and being a lower weight campaigner, age starts to really matter once you hit early to mid thirties)

Khan & Porter are incredibly flawed (as is Thurman, albeit to a lesser extent and his ceiling to improve sits much higher than either of theirs) and he was able to exploit favorable stylistic match-ups in those cases and show them up for guys who rely too much on hand speed and will suffer when a calm patient veteran with good timing who's been around the block and won't **** his pants at the first sign of quickness or athleticism.

The Khan and Porter I match-ups really flattered him and belied how past it he really is.

bro, it could be argued that he won the first porter fight, and the khan fight....he hurt keith and was bringing the pressure....sometimes these old dogs feel a lot better at higher weights cause they no longer have to drain so much...I think that's the case with Julio...he's always been a big lightweight, now at welter he feels a lot better, and can actually focus on training and not just making weight......he'll be back

Never seen Khan that bad.. For me Khan was clearly weight drained had to be..

Anyway only a few days left till we see him at his real weight of 147..

It's crazy that he didn't waste any time. Hope he has a happy retirement and doesnt need to come back due to financial reasons.

He knows his body better than anyone else.

Julio was a brilliant fighter when on form, but he never seemed to recover his mojo after JLC put that terrifying beating on him way back in 2005.

He wasn't injured against Thurman. He quit, took his payday and hurried home for some burritos
