My trainer wants me to be able to jump rope 25 mins straight. I can do about 6 mins straight right now. Whats a good sytematic way to get up to 25 mins in the shortest amount of time

Thats asking a lot. From 6 minutes to 25 minutes with no break. I can't do that now, when u stop jump roping for a little u lose it real quick. But its surely achievable, the way to do it is simply practice practice practice. Turn 6 minutes nonstop in to 9 minutes nonstop in to 12, 15 etc...

Not really. I can do it for at least half an hour straight before I get the urge to drink water.

To go from 6 minutes to 25 minutes is asking a lot for a noob.

And since he is an amateur boxer, its a waste of time. Won't hurt, but he should be training himself for short, faster bursts. I do fast paced jump roping for 3-4 rounds, its more sport specific than longer aerobic stretches.

Yeah. Keep at it, and it will become easy. It takes me about 30-45 minutes before I even start breaking a sweat. In fact, I find it almost relaxing now.
It's funny, they say jumping rope is harder than running, but I run for ten minutes and I feel like quitting. I guess its just muscle memory.

True, if I were to jump rope at top speed, I would get tired faster; but that goes for any exercise. As for my speed, I go at a good rythmm, pretty much as fast as you see most boxers doing.
I very rarely mess up. So, yes one can go 45 muinues without messing up.
If you do mess up, it should not break your stride. You should keep bouncing even if you mess up on a rope turn.

No, it means we have a comfort zone, where it's not that tiring. Sometimes I take a sprint, sometimes I take a rest in my comfort zone.

I keep jumping even if I mess up, but it doesn't happen that often.

You can say that again. I detest running like nothing else. I can shadow box and hit the bag all day but I run for 10 minutes and I feel like I'm gonna die.

    ha!

I thought it was just me. Good to know there are members of the anti-roadwork crew!

It is really wierd. I have the endurance. I can spar forever, skip rope, hit the bag, ride a bike, do just about anything but running.
