Hi al, first post so take it easy guys! Ive been doing some regular fitness work over the past year or so, bag work, circuits etc. I've also become accustomed to skipping, and can do that at a fair pace, but im wanting to introduce some tricks/skills into my jump rope workout but i can't seem to get the hang of it. The only one i can do comfortably is the double under (rope passing under the legs twice with one jump), but im keen to do the cross over trick. Whats the best way of practicing it? iv'e tried it loadsa times....sometimes it hits the back of my head and dayum it ****ing stings!! Any help would be appreciated.
The best way to practice things in general is to try them many times, until they succeed. Jump rope is no different. It can hurt in the beginning though, if you use a thin speed rope
practice the move with no rope or an imaginery rope and treat it as a 2 part motion, still took me ages to get it though, once you can do it while sprinting on the spot its a great feeling, another one to do when you have that down is cross it only once, then skip with the hands turned now that is difficult then bring it back a few skips later:good
yeah man like getting lashed with a whip I recommend wearing clothes everywhere for that damn rope marks all over ankles even
Me more than a year ago. I'm a bit better now but the idea is the same. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaQROl-bl1M[/ame]
thanks for the tips guys, and great video, i'm nowhere near as comfortable as that! Need to put my hood up while skipping to avoid lashes to the back of the head!
