Ok yeah I dont think I do sprints. I just skip regularly (no tricks) until i get bored. If i screw up i do pushups or situps. At the risk of sounding like a ******... what are sprints? Now that you're done laughing at me keep in mind i was just told to "jump rope regularly-don't do tricks until you can do it good" because I really sucked at skipping rope when i started. Like REALLY bad. I just wasn't very coordinated. Now, because i've just been practicing, i've gotten alot better, but I just don't get tired anymore. By tired I should say winded... my legs eventually do start to get a little tired. But i'm not winded in the slightest. I'm assuming sprints are when you jump as fast as possible and lift your knees high (like you're sprinting)?
Spot on mac. What you doin is right. I did the same for a couple months and the timing clicked and then i could do triks but you shouldnt be aiming to do triks just to get the most outta your rope conditioning wise. Ye sprints are going as hard as poss i usually try last 30 secs going as fast as poss and lifting knees high as poss http://how-to-box.com/boxing/boxing_skipping that link has some diagrams for skipping , not all that clear but u get the idea. But once again there "triks" that you dont need. I would suggest that you learn to do alternative foot and not just jumping up and down on the spot tho.:good
Sprints are just jump roping as fast as possible, without screwing up. BTW, i was really bad when i first started too, as in, 2 jumps and the next one would hit my feet haha.. Now i can cross, skip, and all the fancy ****, but i just do that if i wanna show off.. Only thing i do if im doing sprints is maybe a few crosses, and a few double unders, thats the only things you can really apply while still going as fast as possible.
i do 10 seconds normal, 10 seconds sprint and when im super fit its... 10 seconds normal, 10 seconds sprint, 10 seconds doubles. with method is used either way, i do it for 6 rounds straight, no break, including the time inbetween rounds
3-4 3 minute rounds w/ 30 sec. break....all types of jumping (sprints, doulble unders, etc.) 4-5 times a week. jumping rope is great for agility, quickness and ankle strength, plus it's fun as hell once you're good.
Cool. Yeah i don't screw around with tricks and when i do it's for fun and i wait until after i'm done skipping to try them out. I can do the cross over, jumping on one foot, and double spins (i blow those alot tho). All i do regularly is alternative foot jumping, i think i'll throw in some "up and down on the spot" jumps now too as well as sprints tomorrow. I'll let you guys know how it goes thanks!
Haha, never thought of it that way. But nah, I'm good but there are alot who are just as good or better.
Sprints add a bit more. they aren't too bad, but they definately make my legs more tired. I'm happy-I'm getting more out of skipping. Thanks guys
