well footwork is what it focus's on and rhythm...but yeah it's very useful to keep you trim and fit. becuase your whole body is into it. your whole body is making slight movments/adjustments to keep that rope always moving, bouncing at the right entervals. but in the end mostly footwork
it'll tone your whole body, improve aerobic and anaerobic endurance (if used right), and improve hand-eye coordination and agility. It's a must for any boxer.
I like jumping rope but i wouldnt call it a must because i read somewhere Joe Calzaghe doesnt do it at all
Very good for anaerobic fitness, if you aren't lazy and actually go very close to flat out during the sprints.
Know this .. ITS ****ING hard.I watch some of the guys in my gym skip for near on an hour.Im ****ed after 5 minutes. If you want a complete body workout with tons of good CV and endurance skippings the way to go.
I usually bookend my workouts with ten-minute sessions on the rope. When I really get it moving fast and for a long time, I actually feel it the most in my shoulders and forearms, but that's probably because I'm a puny weakling. Overall, though, it has really helped me improve both my stamina and footwork. I really think the rope is a quality tool for ANY sport, not just boxing. I wish I used one back in the day when I was still playing hockey.
What i meant was he got put off it from a young age and has never done it his whole career, the amount of fights or wins you have had just doesnt mean you can stop. Floyd still does it
It helps to improve a broad range of skills include balance, coordination, rhythmn, timing and footwork. Not everybody has access to world class training, but everybody can learn to jump rope. Endeavour to get good at it and your boxing will improve.
