yeah it is different, jump rope is where you get this bit of rope an like swing it around yourself, jumping when it gets to your feet. Running is where you put one foot infront of the other faster then walking.

and as for different cardio, they are both attached to the same heart so they both do the same cardio, however they might do different intensitys depending on ho mch you push yourself at the given excersise

As for jumping rope to much i have seen amatuers on this forum training log that skip 30mins day, Skipping is a excellent way to get into shape, it is not a substitute for running, as running is not for skipping

Dont listen to murphy i know for a fact he cant read so this joe frazier stuff is lies.

Apart from that, good advice from him

I will add this to murphy proper advice rather then my silly one,

Skipping is a small bouncy movement that takes alot of power and whats called fast twitch *(Someone remind me i cant think it might be nerves an ill edit)* So this mimics boxing best outside of actually boxing becuase it simulates being on your toes and ready to shift weight for a punch, also it is a good cardio workout. Whereas Running in the form of distance rather then sprint increases the slow twitch *HELPLOL* and leg strength and gives you more stamina. Sprints increase stamina and help strengthen the fast twitch things, so therefore to be sucessful at boxing you need to combine different excersises to get the best results.

Only joking murphy, as to answer the posters question a little more detailed.

So basically speed has alot to do with genetics, however training what you got delt comes into it. So if skipping works the fast titch fibres then you will see improvement in your speed through training it. Bt also include sprints and plymoetrics
