I skip 6 days a week, and honestly it's too much, espeacially with jogging. Shin splints are a killer. At boxing class we do it for 10 minutes and at the regular gym I do about 30 minutes all together, I do it in between workouts to keep a good sweat going. If you can do it until your completely gassed, but personally I found my shins hurt too often, so I think I'll tone it down.
15 minutes as part of the warm up Maybe another 10 to cool down if I feel like it If you get shin splints try: a) landing softly on your toes b) reduce the height your jumping each time c) jump on a matt or short grass (something soft) I walk, run, jump on grass (or a matt) as much as I can instead of on the road or cement floor. When doing roadwork I'll run along the grass next to the sidewalk as much as I can. It cuts down on the impact of doing what your doing so shin splits become less frequent or disappear altogether. I haven't had shin splits for 8 months. Good luck
use to do atleast 15 min. of skipping but at my new gym only go 2 rounds and it dissapoints me! gonna have to get a rope an get a few rounds in b4 i head 2 the gym.
