That Buster Douglas was a beast. People don't know but Buster was a pretty good fighter when he trained properly. His heart was never into fighting, his dad was the more disciplined fighter just didnt have the physical tools. Buster just wanted the money for the Holyfield fight lol.

I know lol that's why I specified Feb 1990 and not Oct 1990. **** Ruiz would probably knock Oct 1990 Buster Douglas into the 3rd row lmfao. But Tokyo Buster Douglas I think I'd have to favor vs Ruiz, though it'd be a hell of a fight. He was a beast that night.

Andy Ruiz isn't Evander Holyfield. Douglas was also not a beast against Tyson. Tyson isn't every fighter. Douglas could never beat a prime Foreman, Lennox Lewis, even on his best night. Tyson was a short guy who couldn't deal with a good jab. He was bound to lose to somebody. Douglas just did it first.

Anyway Ruiz beating overrated tomato can proves nothing. Douglas wasn't great but he was light years beyond Ruiz. A in shape Douglas batters Ruiz for the stoppage.

Buster beat an ATG with an Iron chin and two fisted power. Ruiz beat a paper champion.
Buster was just as fast, better footwork and more power. Buster all day.

For us oldies, it'll be the Buster Douglas upset of Mike Tyson that occupied our heads for days.

There's levels to this comparison. Yes Buster beat an ATG and I don't think anyone is confusing Joshua with a Prime Tyson, but we must remember Tyson's preparation for Douglas was a big factor. This was not the same Prime Tyson who sparked out Michael Spinks in the first round or who was an absolute machine under the guidance of Cus D'Amato and Kevin Rooney. This was a poorly mis-managed Tyson under Don King, remember how inept his corner was in Tokyo. They did not know how to treat Tyson's swelling in the corner.

As great as Buster was that night, there's no doubt in my mind that Buster would have been annihilated by Prime Tyson under Rooney several years earlier. It was the best version of Buster Douglas and the worst version of Tyson (up to that point). It was that combination plus with it being in Tokyo that resulted in Buster's victory. So yes Tyson was still a force and still considered to be in his prime, but that night in Tokyo he was not the same well prepared machine of a fighter he was under Rooney / Cus.

I agree completely. I just think a poorly trained Tyson is much better than the AJ that fought last night. Infact, I think that the Tyson of Tokyo would beat both AJ and Ruiz of last night.

Lol another one of those Tyson fans who makes excuses for him. Tyson has stated numerous times that he trained hard for that fight and just lost. I guess you know more about that then Tyson does right? Who was Tyson beating with Kevin Rooney? Old rusty Larry Holmes and blown up timid Michael Spinks? You act like Tyson was betting prime George Foreman, Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe, David Tua, Holyfield and the likes.

Even with Rooney in Tyson's corner he struggled with guys like James Tillis and Tony Tucker who had a broken hand.

Buster would jab his head off and be content with a UD win. How is anyone thinking buster knocks out Ruiz, did you not see last nights fight ? lol

I gotta go with Douglas, plus the 1990 version you speak of was in superb condition.

But I think he had the jab and the power to overcome Ruiz....he knocked Tyson clean out whereas Ruiz win was pampered a bit by the style of stoppage as it was a bit if a quit job by AJ

Tyson on the other hand had to be slain...and he was
