Maybe you'll chip in here and enlighten us with your vast wisdom as to what you'd do differently: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=280585
You are clearly 15 years old. Haven't you got school work to be getting on with? I'll explain it to you simply, although I'm sure you'll either get confused or continue to play the fool. Right, the situation you're referring to happened in 2009. Bear that in mind okay, because it's going to be important a bit further down the line and I don't want you getting confused. At the time Haye had signed to fight Wlad he had pretty much just come up from cruiser weight. He was relatively unknown by anyone outside of boxing fans. He was certainly not a PPV attraction at this time (2009 remember) Haye had signed a TV deal with Setanta, an Irish based TV company who had secured the rights to a fair few English Premier League football matches. However, the channel was a bit of a godsend for UK fight fans. They was not a PPV channel, they charged £10 per month subscriptions. An example of how this deal works would be the Barret fight, which was shown on Setanta. The channel would put up the purse for the fight,m which would be split between both fighters accordingly. Haye (via Hayemaker promotions) would then be entitled to his share of purse, ticket and advertising income for this fight. You understand that? When Haye sat down at the negotiating table, he was not a champion nor THAT much of a draw (although the fight still generated interest, mainly from Haye's campaign aka his mouth) and as such had very little leverage in proceedings. He signed what I guess you could call a 'typical' Klitschko deal, with the brothers keeping their own share of the TV rights they had generated across the world and, as the fight was in Germany and, the lions share/all of the ticketing money and advertising. Also they was able to impose their 3 fight options (both brothers) on Haye. Again, Haye was not a champion nor that much of a draw, if he wanted the fight he must submit to their terms. This deal meant the the majority, if not all, of Haye's income from this fight would be from Setanta sports. To be honest, I don't even remember many (if any) posters on this site BACK THEN (2009 remember) claiming Haye was the draw. Anyway, in the months leading up to the fight there was widespread reports in the press that Setanta was struggling financially (mainly because of the huge amounts of money spent securing the premier league rights). As it got closer there was rumours that the channel was soon to go under. If the channel went under Haye would not recieve any money for taking on the most dangerous fighter in the heavyweight division. Haye pulled out of the fight citing a back injury. Two days later Setanta Sports went under. Pretty obvious what was going on there. Well . . . I hope you're aware that it's now 2011. A year and a half has passed since the original fight was signed. As you know, as time goes by things change, people's popularity goes up or down, people win and lose world titles - you know, stuff like that. Since that date David Haye has become what you call a 'draw'. I'll bullet point these things as I'm aware that I'm dragging on: Haye beat Valuev, in doing so collecting a heavyweight title and beating the biggest champion in the history of the boxing. The promotion of this fight gained Haye huge attention from the mainstream media, featuring on all the major television channels and in the major papers. The fight was a PPV success, earning Haye millions and making him a huge sporting name in the UK. Haye has since fought twice on PPV, included a fight against Harrison that gained even more mainsstream attention than the Valuev fight. Haye has been nominated for the BBC sports personality of year award twice (2009, 2010) a hugely prestigious award presented on a live ceremony on the biggest TV station in Britain. HBO, the biggest name in American boxing, have said that they have no interest in showing another Wladimir Klit fight unless it is against David Haye. Bernard Boente has admitted that the most money is generated by David Haye's lucrative Sky PPV deal. So, in the latest negotiations Haye was due to receive 50% of everything straight down the middle, a HUGE advance from what he was receiving in 2009. If he was not anymore of a draw than in 2009, why is he suddenly getting 50% of everything (Wlads TV money, ticketing, sponsorship advertising etc)? Why are they offering him a deal without the 2-3 fight options? If he was not a draw surely he would be offered the same deal as in 2009? Also, if he's not a draw why will HBO only show Wlad if he fights Haye? Bit weird isn't it? Your problem seems to be that you're incapable of grasping the concept of time. Is that it? Hopefully I have explained and evidenced that as time progresses circumstances change. Therefore it was pretty ****ing stupid to use a deal from 2009 as evidence that David Haye is not a draw in 2011. Kid, you're pretty ****ing stupid. IT's not use just picking a fighter and siding with them regardless - it makes you look a ****ing idiot. I'm not siding with one party or another here, I've given my analysis of what's going on elsewhere on the site, its pretty objective. You on the other hand are full of ****
Take note guys and gals, THIS is how you address the post of a complete ****wit like BigBone, great post.
I only state facts. Facts kill angry rants like yours. DAVID HAYE ALREADY PULLED OUT ONCE WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO SAID HE'LL FIGHT HAYE IN JULY HAYE SAID HE PLANS TO WALK AWAY HAYE HAS NO DRAW POWER WITHOUT BRITISH TV You can write all you want, these are the facts. And one additional fact: one has to be completely ******ed to call Wlad a ducker when he said he'll fight Haye in July, and the only reason he doesn't fight Haye in April is becuase UK TV turned down Haye for a Khan tune-up. These are the facts my friend. And I know for a fact you'll come back with further offensive ****.
You moron. You explicitly said 'Haye is not a draw'? Is that a fact is it? Or are you talking out of your arse because you're biased? I know which one it is If it's a fact that they're choosing Khan over Haye, show me evidence that Khan doesn't already have a contracted date with UKTV. Show me the evidence that this can be cancelled. Seems like RTL doesn't Value Wlad too highly if the next date he can get after April 30th is July 2nd?
You obviously can't read. I said without British TV. So what money does he make outside of British TV and bookies? Please answer to this.
Half of Wlads TV, American TV, tickets, sponsorship etc. Pretty much 50% of everything Wlad earns. That's how a 50:50 deal works. And you clearly cannot read, as there was a lot more text below that that you've conveniently ignored. You are such a joker, someone calls you out on your **** and you move to your next ill thought out, bias point
No my lad, you misunderstood me. What money does David Haye make, not in this fight he's backing out, but generally, what money does he bring outside of British TV when he fights the Ruizs, Harrisons etc? In other words, how much does he draw and from where outside of British TV?
I don't actually get what you're asking? You want me to contact Hayemaker Promotions and find out where they have sold TV rights to? A fighter gets their money from their main TV deal, so it's clear most of Haye's money comes from British TV, plus wherever else he sells the rights. Whenever his fights are shown anywhere he will make money.
In other words you have no evidence of Haye's super-duper draw power I hear all the time. So Setanta killed the fight the first time around. But if Haye is such a draw, how come he left empty handed, where were his sponsors and other incomes outside of British TV? If he's such a draw why didn' Sky jump the opportunity? Why do they prefer the Khan tune-up over Haye? Tell you something: if RTL similarly backed out of the Klitschkos they'd still bring millions from another German TV jumping on the opportunity, the huge sponsors, the 100+ TV stations over the world and off 60,000 tickets. THAT'S draw power. I'm only showing the fools who on one hand argue how Haye is a draw, on other hand complain he makes no money outside of British TV. If you are not one of them, we shouldn't even have this argument.
They're both draws, the fact that you choose to ignore this speaks volumes about your immaturity. If Haye is not a draw then . . . Why is Haye bringing the most money to the table? Why does Wlad rely on Haye for a career high payday? Why does Wlad rely on Haye to get screened on HBO? Why is the fight everyone wants to see? They're both draws, face it. And grow up.
That's why I'm done with you. Wlad brings shitloads of more money than Haye, that's why the first fight was set in Germany, he had a dozen fights on HBO while Haye zero and his world is not devastated when a TV (HBO or RTL) backs out because there are plenty of opportunities left to get the millions while when Setanta left Haye was ****ed for good. I think you understand just keep coming back for the sake of argument. But I have nothing else to say.
