Who wins over 12 rounds? Chang is the relentless swarmer but was given problems by the technically correct Ohashi. Lopez IMO is better than Ohashi but is light and would have to move up to fight Chang. I would also say Lopez hits harder than Ohashi, who stunned Chang in the 2nd fight. What do you think?
Chang puts on better pressure than Alverez IMO, who gave Lopez his toughest fights judging by what I have seen (recently got the Lopez career set, trying to watch them all over the next coupla days and get a better view) IMO lopez is one of the most technically sound fighters I have ever seen. Fast and precise footwork, perfect punching form, fantastic array of punches and sting in both punches. He is a master and getting an opponent to drop their hands with a probing jab before dropping the straight right behind it. Deadly. I have recently got more acquainted with Chang and I have to say, he is really impressive. He knows when to move out of range and plan his next attack, is durable, and calculated with his swarming. Personally I think Chang is all wrong for Lopez, on the basis that he has the chin to cut through Lopez's attacks for the better part, and that Lopez isn't a great inside fighter (something I never took into account is that Lopez prefers to tie up on the inside, move out and re-establish his range. He is capable of throwing some nice punches on the inside, but he never seemed entirely comfortable for me, and against Chang he has little chance of making an effort there anyway) Chang UD 12; Lopez starts off well but Chang comes into his own around the 4th or 4th and dominates from there on in. I think Lopez will look the worse for wear at the end. Only my opinion, I rate Lopez as high as anyone, but Chang seems to me the kinda' fighter that will find a way against Lopez.
thats how i see it but i think Lopez has some sucess as Ohashi did. a chang stoppage could even be on the cards IMO. i ****ing love Chang
lopez, you gave the reason yourself lopez can out-box chang and can sting him enough to to stall chang at crucial stages when chang may seem about to start building momentum. although i expect to be torn to shreds for suggesting this
you think Lopez can hold of Chang for long. I think he has sucess with it but Chnag just keeps coming and coming and gets through them straight punches and beats Lopez up on the inside. I can see why you think Lopez as it is an interesting match up
No doubt there is a chance this happens. Lopez as I say had fantastic form, appeared to have a very good chin although he wasn't always that hittable as his SW opposition wasn't great and he was a bit older by the time he got to Light-Fly. I just think Chang is better than Alvarez and he put up a really good fight against Lopez twice. Zapata was also taller than Lopez and a boxer too with big power and long arms (bigger in fact) and from what I've seen from the first fight (not the whole figth I admit) it looks like Chang may not have got a fair shake. ONLY MY OPINION :good It's certainly not unwinnable for Lopez;most fights around this weight aren't, he was a phenom.
i admit i am relying on lopez having the power to hurt chang enough at crucial times.also lopez must be at his very best to win, but here you have two fighters that both seemed to be able to find a way to win. if lopez power cant hurt chang then yes i agree lopez is in for a shitty night
fleaman i thought Chang beat Zapata in the first fight by 2 points but if you gte me it was a clear Chang win although the scores being close
Lopez won`t have an easy time landing on a guy like Chang who bobs and weaves his way inside, not at all easy to get a read with your punches on fighters like that. Factor in Chang`s instinctive defensive radar, strenght advantage and ability to quickly close the gap between himself and his opponent and get inside on them this doesn`t bode well for Lopez. He will have some sporadic success whenever he succeeds in controlling the distance and is capable of unleashing his offense from afar, but Changs ability to close the distance is superior to Lopez`s ability to maintain it and this will be the difference in the end. Chang swarms all over Lopez for most of the fight and takes a commanding decision imo.
This is just the thing though, Chang was all momentum. He was a perpetual motion machine, and unlike many others of his ilk he had excellent skills, if very unorthodox. He gave off angles beautifully on the inside, and was a non-stop punching machine with naturally great accuracy and timing. Like Duran, he was also very effective defensively when on the attack. He had great head movement, and the momentum he built from his defensive maneuvers often put him in a perfect position to counter. When he got going, it was like his fists were magnetized to his opponent's face. Watch his fight with Katsuo Tokashiki on Youtube to see him at his very best.
Pea what are your thoughts on Wilde vs Lynch? Made a thread though I'm sure it's been done to death before :good
Fleaman stop advertising in my thread Just watched a young Chang vs Alfonso Lopez He really had a good defensive awareness while on the attack very good stuff
