wacthed the first ohashi fight last night again chang got caught by ohashi`s left quite a bit early especially in the second. but once chang got inside as when i have watched it before he is very impressive sometimes though he punhes were a bit wide and he leaned in a bit leaving his chin exposed but i like his punch variety and his use of his uppercut.will try to watch the tokashiki fight later might be hard though as got the kids today
I ****ing love Lopez. He's my favorite fighter, and I don't think that Chang was that much better than El Bufalo when he was at his best. But this is still a bad, bad match for him Stylistically he's strong enough to work his way inside, push back Lopez, and if not overwhelm him, or even really dominate, then do enough by virtue of sheer volume to secure a close, but clear decision.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkB7X7RY5-0&feature=related I honestly don't see Lopez stopping Chang from doing this to him for prolonged amounts of time due to him being average on the inside. Lopez has the speed to sharpshoot Chang on the way in but Chang also has the head movement and strength to smother Lopez's work and bully him on the inside.
I think Chang takes this from Lopez in a nailbiter. The man dealt with Hilario Zapata twice, that's enough for me.
I'm not much of a fan of modern strawweight / flyweight boxing, but these two are favorites of mine that I enjoyed watching. Lopez had unfair power for his size. Some of his KO's would make Mike Tyson nod his head. But Lopez was not just a power hitter, he was a master technician too, who knew when and where to throw his punches. He was also tall for his weight class. Chang was quick with combinations, hard to catch cleanly, and flashy, but lacked power and was short. So how does this one go down? A bad style match up for Chang, I think. Lopez has the height and reach advantage and would win on the outside if a tactical match took place. Chang's best stuff was in the mid to close range, however Chang can't afford in-fight much because Lopez had an excellent uppercut. Lopez would be my pick either via decision or TKO.
Chang by UD. I think Lopez, with his methodical, assassin like style, would have a lot of problems with a guy like Chang who doesn't allow you to breathe, and is super skilled in his own way.
Chang is one of the few fighters that I think can beat Lopez. Chang at his best was actually a skilled fighter in an unorthodox way, very smart swarmer.
I'd actually favor Gonzalez to beat Lopez in a close but convincing decision. Not too sure about Carbajal, I actually think Lopez might be able to knock him out.
I like your analysis. However, I think it is a bit unfair to use Rosendo Alvarez as the measuring stick. I admit that Lopez had his hands full with Alvarez (Who, was actually a pretty good fighter). But, the Alvarez fight was at the tail end of Lopez' career (he had been champion for almost 8 years). And, fighting a rough, hungry fighter like Alvarez would be no easy task for any fighter so close to the end of their career. If that had been a prime Lopez (like the one who decimated Sorjaturong 5 years earlier) against Alvarez, I believe Lopez would have beaten Alvarez far more convincingly. As great as Zapata was, he was no power hitter. Lopez hits more than hard enough in my opinion to make Chang second guess his aggressiveness a bit. Once that happens, I see Lopez winning on the cards with his impeccable technique.
I wrote this post a while back and have no idea why I wrote ‘power’. Almost certainly meant to say he was a sharp hitter and was just stoned as **** Alvarez causes Lopez issues at any stage of his career. No doubt in my mind. He’s the best fighter he ever fought. 8 years a champ, sure, but Lopez never had a hard career anyway. Doesn’t wash with me.
